Abide in that. Similarly, sleeping, getting up, sitting, in whichever of the four activities, one should abide without distraction in the state of clarity and emptiness, free from grasping. As it says in the Compendium: "Walking, standing, lying down, and sitting, be fully endowed with mindfulness. Observing as much as the yoke, the mind is not confused while walking." In the Two Examinations Sutra: "Eating, drinking, pouring, (590) sleeping, turning, and thinking, if one desires to manifest the great seal, then it will manifest." In short, speaking. The ninth, learning various conversations, is to speak unimportant words among many people from the previous state, or to sit and mix with others in places where they engage in meaningless chatter. The tenth, learning various sutras, is to recite and mix long or short sutras such as the Heart Sutra or the Names of Manjushri, which are memorized from the previous state. The eleventh, learning various mantras, is to set a morning limit on top of one's three natural states. Then, without separating from the elephant's gaze (591), in the state of clarity and emptiness, without losing focus, recite and mix short or long mantras such as the Padmasambhava mantra. The twelfth, mixing listening to and explaining the Dharma with conceptual thoughts, is to listen to and explain the Dharma in the state of clarity and emptiness. Or, on top of one's three natural states, allowing conceptual thoughts to transform, and then looking nakedly at that essence, the conceptual thoughts cannot bear it and will naturally arise as emptiness. Or, abide in one's own way and meditate. It is not like pulling back and abandoning the transformed conceptual thoughts, but rather taking them onto the path. When conceptual thoughts suddenly arise, know their nature (592) and do not fabricate them. Whether abiding or transforming, do not follow them, but count them as the self-empty Dharmakaya. As it says in the Names Sutra: "A moment of mind knows all meanings." And in the Mind at Rest: "Whatever arises is the original, whatever appears, if not forgotten by memory, then that appearance is emptiness itself, the king of yogis is not eaten by demons." And in the Madhyamaka: "Whoever sees one thing as Suchness, also sees all things as Suchness." And in the Mother Sutra: "If one knows Suchness through form, all"

And will know all the Sutras and extensive commentaries of all lands. Thus it is said. In the Mother Tantra, it says: The afflictions of Bodhisattvas are conceptual thoughts. What should be abandoned is conceptual thought. Thus it is said. Afflictions are not abandoned by antidotes, nor is the non-grasping that is not stained by the defilements of the self-continuum of afflictions. That is called the wisdom of afflictions, or the path application of conceptual thought as Dharmakaya. Between conceptual thought and Dharmakaya, there is only the difference between recognizing and not recognizing, being aware and not being aware, realizing and not realizing. One who does not abandon and is without stain, possesses wisdom. Thus it is said. In the Vajra verse, it says: In the sky of Dharmakaya, from the clouds of realization, view the lightning of the five poisons as great wisdom. Thus it is. Having recognized the awareness born of Tögal, it is said that one should cultivate and familiarize oneself with it without separation. In short, at all times of equal day and night, in the nature of clear emptiness without grasping, one should not be distracted from the state of "Had-de Ched-de" in the present moment. Then there is the introduction: At the time when such preliminaries are completed, offer a good Torma and Tsok. That is, in front of the objects of refuge of the Three Jewels, arrange the five offerings with the three waters preceding, and the five Tormas with good ornaments, arrows, and banners, and the good Tsok implements. Then the teacher enters the deity yoga, recites, makes the front generation offering, and gives the Torma. Then in the space in front, visualize on a precious throne supported by eight lions, on a lotus and sun-moon cushion (595) the root guru as an image that the eyes cannot be satisfied with. Around him are surrounded by the lineage gurus, and countless retinues such as Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, visualized as dwelling densely like clouds. To them, actually arrange the five offerings with the mind, and offer a golden Mandala, that is, generate faith and reverence, with palms joined together holding flowers, recite in the mouth the root and lineage gurus, and all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, and the Yidam mandala assembly, please bless me to realize the meaning of the Great Seal, and to generate special realization in the continuum. I pray that the wisdom protectors (596) and guardians protect me.
