Like a mother, with a joyful and smiling face, merely hearing the name of whom grants the state of non-retrogression, without needing to pray, light radiates from his heart, inviting all the gurus, yidams, refuge objects, and all the sacred beings of the ten directions, merging into non-duality, (161) contemplate as the union of all refuge objects. From the depths of the heart and marrow, I take refuge in the guru, the Buddha, the precious one. Guru Rinpoche, for the benefit of myself and all sentient beings, please grant that I abandon self-grasping, that it arises spontaneously in the continuum without fabrication, that I master the illusory body and dreams, and that I realize the clear light Mahamudra right now, swiftly, on this very seat. Recite this hundreds and thousands of times. At that time, visualize that all sentient beings are also praying, and that all the container and contents, animate and inanimate, cannot remain still, but spin counterclockwise, and that the sound of prayer "uru ru" resounds, and pray with body and mind continuously. If you wish, you can also recite the lineage prayer. (162) Finally, a stream of nectar descends from the guru's body, trickling down, filling the entire body, and the four empowerments are completely received. The guru dissolves into light and merges into oneself, realizing that the guru's body, speech, and mind and one's own body, speech, and mind are inseparably blended together, and hold onto it tightly before the gross experience subsides. Then, without clinging even to that, naturally relax and rest. When resting in this way, the clarity of the mind does not diminish, but manifests in various ways, this is the Nirmanakaya of the guru. Looking at the essence of that clarity, it is not established in anything, and the empty state that cannot be found by searching is the Dharmakaya of the guru. The one who seeks emptiness is clarity, and what cannot be found by exerting clarity is emptiness, the union of these two, inseparable like fire and the heat of fire, is the Sambhogakaya of the guru. Such (163) meaning can be experienced personally, but cannot be expressed in words, it is beyond words and beyond thought, this is the Svabhavikakaya of the guru. Know that a single moment of mind and awareness abides in the essence of the four kayas of the guru, and rest without clinging. If sudden thoughts arise, do not follow them, do not let them overflow like a flood. Do not abandon them either. Let the thoughts cease on their own, and it will become inexpressible, beyond thought, and still.

Therefore, having met the self-face of the four bodies (Sanskrit: catuḥkāya, literally: four kinds of bodies), one should maintain that state. Recognizing that one's own mind abides as the four bodies of the lama, one is liberated from the fault of not recognizing due to being too close. Through scripture, reasoning, and oral instructions, one gains certainty that one's own mind abides in the essence of the four bodies, thereby being liberated from the fault of not comprehending due to being too excellent. Relying on the method of abiding and (164) the three ways of self-nature, like the sun rising from behind the clouds, one sees the self-face of reality nakedly and clearly, thereby being liberated from the fault of not recognizing due to being too profound. Through the lama's oral instructions, one recognizes the self-face of that which is inexpressible and beyond mind. Having generated decisive certainty, one is liberated from the fault of not believing due to being too easy, and at all times, one should look and abide in the essence of whatever thoughts arise, without clinging. At that time, if there is dullness, one should exert oneself fully in body and mind. Directing the gaze towards the sky about sixteen finger-widths away, and if there is scattering, one should relax body and mind. Lowering the gaze to the ground in front, one should sit in a natural and relaxed posture. Looking directly is the clearing of obstacles. Having arisen from that meditative equipoise, in all post-meditation, one should not differentiate between whatever appearances of the six consciousnesses arise. (165) One should not engage in clinging to whatever arises, but relax and abide. Whatever thoughts arise, one should look at their essence, and maintain non-clinging, which is the practice of using appearances as the path and thoughts as the path in post-meditation. Therefore, one should always practice with the king of mindfulness, without distraction. Secondly, the trunk is the essence of the practice of the six dharmas of Gu Chu Chung (Tibetan: གུ་ཆོས་དྲུག), the daily practice is to take refuge and generate bodhicitta in the morning session, as before. Visualize the lama in the sky in front of your ordinary self, as before. Pray to the precious lama, please purify my sins and obscurations! Please pacify all diseases, evil spirits, and obstacles! Please generate special samadhi in my mind-stream! Pray in this way as much as possible. The lama dissolves into light and merges into oneself. In one's own (166) head, visualize a white, clear, and luminous three-sided dharma origin, with a thin root that pierces like a small tongue, and a wide top that reaches above the head. One corner pierces the eyebrow, and two corners pierce behind the ears, and in it, visualize a white, luminous "Ah" (Tibetan: ཨ, Devanagari: अ, Romanized Sanskrit: a, literally: Ah). Focus on this, and recite "Ah Ah" with the mouth, and from the "Ah" descends white nectar, like milk.
