Not only in visualization but also in practice, one should strive to accomplish whatever does not become an obstacle to discipline and practice. Even mutually promising beneficial words. This is learning through practice. Even giving fearlessness is for the sake of benefiting suffering beings. If the time is not right or it leads to sin, there is a high risk that the benefit will not outweigh the loss. Although it is necessary to purify with thought, there are also times when one needs to keep actions neutral. Dharma giving, may I satisfy all beings with the gift of Dharma. May I teach the Dharma, (618) ripen those beings who are not ripe, liberate those who are ripe, make those who do not understand understand, make those who have not realized realize, and make those who have not attained attain. Practice through such thoughts. Now, if one has the ability to teach the Dharma, one should not look to offerings and fame, but benefit others by teaching the Dharma. Even if one does not have this ability, one should be willing to teach the Dharma to humans and non-humans, and not interrupt the recitation of sutras or the proclamation of scriptures. One should practice through such thoughts, and make it so that it is not only in visualization but also realized in practice. This is learning through practice (619). Thus, for the three kinds of giving, there are two ways of learning, thought and action, making a total of six. In short, it is to learn the perfection of giving. This is the forty-sixth visualization item. The ways of learning for thought and action individually can also be applied to the following content. Now, one also needs to learn the perfection of discipline. There are three kinds of discipline: the discipline of abstaining from evil deeds, the discipline of accumulating virtuous dharmas, and the discipline of benefiting sentient beings. The discipline of abstaining from evil deeds, in general, refers to abandoning all naturally negative actions, such as the ten non-virtuous actions (620). In particular, as a layperson, monk, novice, Bodhisattva vow holder, or tantric vow holder, one must not violate the precepts that one has taken. In short, it is to avoid all things that are said to be impermissible in the sutras and treatises. One should contemplate: I should learn this immediately. The discipline of accumulating virtuous dharmas refers to not being biased towards any one virtuous action or any one aspect, but to

In short, one must always learn about all six actions. Regarding this, one must also strive to do what one can from now on. The discipline of benefiting sentient beings (621): It refers to benefiting sentient beings by making them abide in happiness and various virtues. That is, I should do what I can, and from now on, strive to make sentient beings abide in benefit and happiness. Forbearance from wrongdoing cannot be delayed. As soon as one hears it, one must cut it off and prevent it. For the latter two, one can delay a little, and according to one's own wisdom, do what one can now. Those that cannot be done now can be left as objects of aspiration later. In general, if a Bodhisattva does not benefit other (622) sentient beings, that is the greatest fault. Therefore, the discipline of benefiting sentient beings is needed. In order to benefit others, one must mature one's own continuum, so one needs to accumulate merit. It is not enough to be merely untainted by one's own faults and downfalls. Although it seems so, for the initial foundation, forbearance from wrongdoing itself is very important. Because without this, the other two will not come as desired. The forty-seventh mind training section. Now, regarding the perfection of patience, there are three: patience that does not mind harm, patience that accepts suffering, and patience that has firm faith in the Dharma (623). The first of these is: When others harm me by beating, robbing, etc., there will be feelings of intolerance and anger. Therefore, since I am a person who is going to achieve Buddhahood, how can I do if I cannot tolerate even this much harm? Even if sentient beings of the three realms become enemies and harm me in all sorts of different ways, I must be able to endure. If I cannot tolerate even this much harm, and I expect to attain Buddhahood, and I expect to be a practitioner, I think I am wrong. Patience that accepts suffering refers to when practicing Dharma, encountering sufferings such as heat, cold, hunger, thirst, etc. (624), or difficult roads, or lack of resources, or fatigue, exhaustion, sun, wind, rain, etc., one should think, for the sake of the Dharma, how can I do if I cannot tolerate even this small asceticism? For the sake of wealth and wives and children, even a hundred or a thousand times greater suffering than this, one would endure without hesitation.
