Regarding speech. Herein lies the arrangement of the five stages of cause and effect. Furthermore, the lineage from Tsangpa Rinpoche, a student of Kyayulwa (572), in the teachings of the 'Stages of Great Vehicle Mind Training' divided by Geshe Musmen, it appears as follows: the uncommon Great Vehicle, in Atisha's seven causes and effects, it is said that the mind must be trained sequentially. That is, if considered from the perspective of the seven causes and effects, it is not without cause or condition, but arises from the cause of Bodhicitta. Bodhicitta arises from the utterly pure superior intention. That intention arises from great compassion. Great compassion arises from great love. Great love arises from delight. Delight arises from knowing and repaying kindness. Knowing and repaying kindness arises from meditating on the concept of mother (573). It is said that these are the seven causes and effects. Therefore, the term 'seven causes and effects' is not a recent invention, and should be distinguished. Secondly, contemplating the meaning of cause and effect involves cultivating loving-kindness, cultivating compassion, and cultivating Bodhicitta, these three. The first is the root mother. It refers to the mother who gave birth to this life, who is immensely kind to me. Initially, for nine or ten months, she held me in her womb. During that time, she cherished me more than her own life. She gave me a human body, life, and lifespan. From the time of birth, she provided physical assistance, (574) holding me on the tips of her ten fingers, bringing me close to her warm body, feeding me milk, chewing food with her tongue and feeding it to me, wiping away my impurities with her hands. We ourselves could do nothing, and she nurtured me from when I was like a worm. She also provided assistance through speech, calling me by sweet names, praising me even when there was nothing to praise, speaking of virtues even when there were no virtues, and making me happy in various ways. She also provided assistance through her mind, always thinking about how my child could live a long life, how he could be free from illness, how he could be respected by people, whether he could speak pleasant words, (575) and whether he could excel. She was immensely happy even when I could just sit up, control my bowels, and speak a word or two. When I grew up, she gave everything she had to her child, and not only did she not feel any regret, but she rejoiced even more. Even if she gave wealth and servants filling three thousand worlds, she would not feel it was enough. Oh, my mother!

Just that much is helpful to me. How kind and gracious she is to me! This mother is real at all times and in all circumstances, whether happy or not. I contemplate placing this mother in supreme bliss. Contemplation (576) Thirty-sixth time. Meditating on the love of the root mother is the root of loving-kindness meditation. It is easy to be born, but it is important to have experience. Then, my mother, that is how she helped me in this life. Not just one or two lifetimes, but countless lifetimes she has been my mother, helping me like my real mother in this life, countless times. Likewise, becoming an enemy to help me is also immeasurable. Likewise, becoming relatives, in-laws, friends, benefactors, etc., to help me is also endless. The clothes and ornaments (577) she gave me, if piled up together, would exceed the height of Mount Meru. The breast milk I drank, if accumulated, would not be enough for the four great oceans. This mother became our parents, children, relatives, and when we died first, the tears shed in sorrow, if accumulated, would not be enough for millions of rivers. For my sake, she disregarded sin, disregarded suffering, disregarded bad words, and only worked for my benefit. Thinking like this, how much she has helped me, etc., contemplate as before. Contemplation (578) Thirty-seventh time. Then, on top of that, add five or six fathers, siblings, relatives, and acquaintances. Among these people, some have helped a lot in this life, some have helped moderately, and some have helped a little. But considering from beginningless samsara, like the root mother, there is no difference in how much they have helped me, and there is no difference in the size of their kindness. If this much help doesn't make me happy, what will? If it's not happiness, what is it? I must place them in ultimate happiness, etc., contemplate as before. Similarly, you must gradually increase and meditate. In this regard, there are also methods of gradually increasing and meditating from each place according to the rules of Gyayulwa and Narthangpa (579). For beginners, I think this method of contemplation is the most important. After that, the people in the place where you live, enemies, friends, neutrals
