Not only does one not engage in the opposite of the ten virtues—all sinful non-virtuous actions, whether large or small, one does not do oneself, nor does one allow others to do them, nor does one rejoice or delight in sin, nor does one praise or commend it, thus one should meditate. White virtuous actions, not only those ten paths of action, but also saving the lives of other beings, giving them what they need to live, giving them possessions, keeping (527) vows, making offerings to the Three Jewels, and all things that pertain to virtue such as faith, one should do oneself as much as one can, and also allow others to do them. One should also rejoice in the virtuous actions done by oneself and others, and one should also speak words of praise, thus one should think. Furthermore, there are actions that are neither virtuous nor non-virtuous, called unspecified actions. These include things like walking, standing, sitting, and lying down, which are various and uncertain. Although they do not have ripening results, time is spent in them meaninglessly. One should not be controlled by laziness and distraction, but in order to replace the occurrence of unspecified actions, one should transform one's mind and actions to only (528) virtuous actions, thus one should meditate. Incidentally, during breaks between sessions, one should also think like this: in order to accumulate special collections from life to life, one must accomplish a noble body with eight qualities. By abandoning the thought of harming, one has a long life; by making offerings of lamps and giving clothes, one has a beautiful form; towards the lama and fellow practitioners of pure conduct, one is without arrogance and is respectful, therefore one has a noble lineage; towards fields of benefit, fields of suffering, fields of merit, and so on; and by giving beggars what they desire (529), one has wealth, that is, perfect enjoyment; by only speaking virtuous words, one's speech is truthful; by making offerings to the lama, the Three Jewels, and parents, etc., and by making prayers to accomplish various merits, one has great power; one delights in male things, and by protecting from castration, one is reborn as a male; by helping others in their righteous activities without expecting anything in return, one obtains perfect strength. One should accomplish those as much as possible. The twenty-first contemplation. Up to here (530), the stage of the small person is complete. Second, to train the mind in common with the middling person, samsara...

Thinking about the cause and effect of samsara and the cause and effect of liberation. First, think about the result, which is the suffering of samsara, and think about the cause, which is the classification of the origin of suffering. First, think about the suffering of the heavenly realms, and think about the overall suffering of samsara. First, do slightly detailed prostrations, offerings, and confessions, and then precede them with the seven-branch offering and refuge. Due to my karma, I will take birth in the six realms (531), and if I am born in the three lower realms, the suffering is like that. If I am born as a human, although it seems happy, it is not happy, because most humans are born from the womb. It is necessary to stay in the womb for nine or ten months. In the womb, there are always three sufferings: the suffering of narrowness, the suffering of darkness, and the suffering of unpleasant smells. When the mother is hungry, it is like being swallowed by a vulture; when she is full, it is like being crushed; if she eats hot food, it is like being boiled in a hot spring; if she eats cold food, it is as painful as being thrown into an ice cellar (532). When giving birth from the womb, it is also as naked as being clamped between the wood of pressing sesame oil, and all the joints are separated and broken. As soon as you are born, everything you touch is rough, even if you are wrapped in soft silk, it is like being thrown into a thorn bush. When someone else picks you up, it is as painful as a bird being carried away by an eagle. Now we ourselves do not remember it, and if we remember it, we do not need anything else. Just thinking about the suffering of birth, we know that there is no benefit to being born as a human. Due to my karma, I must do one thing that will prevent me from being born again in samsara (533). The suffering of human womb birth is like that. In general, no matter which realm of the three realms you are born in, it is suffering. No matter which realm you are born in, it is suffering. No matter how you are born, it is suffering, that is, it has five kinds of suffering. That is to say, birth is called being accompanied by suffering, and you must be born with strong feelings. Birth is called being accompanied by bad destinies, and you must be born with the seeds of increasing afflictions. Birth is called becoming a place of suffering, because from birth, other sufferings such as old age, sickness, and death arise. (534) Birth is called becoming a place of affliction.
