This is to sever the demon of the earth. If one does not fall under the control of discursive thoughts, and if meditation progresses, then the measure of completion and the measure of begging will be in order. By this, it is similar to others as well. If one's own mind is not gathered under one's own control, then without external causes, the arising of the five poisons and the discursive thoughts of joy, sorrow, fear, and terror are uninterrupted demons. The arising of good clinging and pride, or self-important thoughts, etc., is the demon of joy. The clinging to self-grasping, this clinging is the demon of arrogance, so do not lose the alertness of mindfulness. Without losing the self-possession of wisdom (47), casting everything that arises into the sphere of PHAṬ (藏文,梵文天城体:फट्,梵文罗马拟音:phaṭ,汉语字面意思:啪), if one can cut the rope of arrogance of self-grasping and discursive thoughts without hesitation, then one can become the most excellent cutter. In order for such a view and meditation to progress, the subsequent practice of peaceful cutting is the white offering, and the fierce cutting is the red offering. Half peaceful and half fierce is the variegated offering, etc., these are known as cutting with elaboration. Mixing loving-kindness and compassion with the wisdom of the sphere and meditating alternately is cutting without elaboration. Remaining equally in the meaning of the Mother alone is cutting without extreme elaboration. If all three are practiced, then the beginning and end will be complete. The measure of begging (48) is also that if one clings to the appearances of gods and demons and nightmares and fears, etc., without realizing that secret begging arises in the mind, then there are many who fail to cut it at the crucial moment. Do not move the body, do not speak with the mouth, and whatever thoughts arise in the mind, do not let them control you, but casting them into the sphere of PHAṬ (藏文,梵文天城体:फट्,梵文罗马拟音:phaṭ,汉语字面意思:啪) is very important. Thus, although it is understood that one must cut the three poisons and other evil thoughts into the sphere, there are very many who fall into the demon of the gods by binding good thoughts with the knot of good clinging. Therefore, if one casts devotion, compassion, generation stage, with signs, completion stage, etc., into the sphere of PHAṬ (藏文,梵文天城体:फट्,梵文罗马拟音:phaṭ,汉语字面意思:啪), then virtuous activity will increase and one will come very close to supreme accomplishment. In short, the root of cutting (49) is to be without hope and doubt. Since one is controlled by discursive thoughts, those who are bound by the bonds of the four demons, cutting them in the sphere is the meaning of the Mother. If view and conduct are united, then it is supreme. By the good light obtained by this, having destroyed all the nets of discursive thoughts, may I quickly attain the state of the Mother, free from birth and arrogance. This is also the nature of Mañjuśrī, the Perfection of Wisdom.
