Please pacify all stains of inversion. Please generate all non-inverted realizations. Please eliminate all obstacles to practicing the Mahayana Dharma. Thus, pray intensely. (443) Finally, offer another offering emanated by the mind. The root and lineage lamas enter from the crown of your head and reside in the tent of light in your heart. Visualize that the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas also dissolve into it, becoming invisible. May this root of my virtue, for the sake of all sentient beings, attain the state of Buddhahood. And, by this virtue, may all beings perfect the accumulations of merit and wisdom, and may they attain the two supreme states arising from merit and wisdom. In this way, dedicate the merit. During session breaks, do not dwell on the lama's faults. (444) Remember only the qualities. I do not have the fortune to see the Buddha directly. The compassion of the Buddhas abiding in the three times manifests in the form of a virtuous friend. Therefore, my lama is actually the real Buddha. In terms of kindness, he is even greater than all the Buddhas. Whatever I desire—high status, liberation, or Buddhahood—he grants me the necessary methods without hiding anything. The arising of a single quality in my being and the reduction of a single fault are also due to the lama's kindness. I have obtained such a profound and difficult-to-find (445) Dharma. I think, "How great is his kindness!" Furthermore, I must also give my body and all my possessions for the sake of the lama. With my body, I must accomplish all the actions of respect, service, and immediate assistance that are in accordance with the lama's wishes. With my speech, I must only praise the qualities of the lama's body, speech, and mind, and only speak words that will be of service to him. With my conduct, I must constantly think about what pleases him and what words he speaks, and then accomplish it, putting it into practice. In this case, the meaning of the supplication is: (446) the five stains of inversion, namely: the stain of attachment to this life, the stain of disbelief in karma and its effects, the stain of clinging to samsara as happiness, the stain of cherishing one's own benefit, and the stain of things and names.

It is the stain of truly clinging to "I." There are also five types of non-inverted realization: realizing that the next life is more important than this life, thereby realizing trust in the results of karma; realizing that samsara is suffering; realizing that cherishing others is more important than cherishing oneself; and realizing that ultimate truth is emptiness and conventional truth is illusion. Obstacles to practicing the Dharma include: harm caused by external humans and non-humans; internal illnesses caused by imbalances of the four elements (447); and internal thoughts and afflictions that contradict the Dharma. Please pacify these three obstacles. This is one section of contemplation. Second, actually training in the stages of the path, that is, training in the thoughts of the three types of individuals: training in the stages common to the lesser individual; training in the stages common to the intermediate individual; and training in the uncommon stages of the great individual. Among these, the first point is that, in general, different lineages have different ways of guiding, such as the Kadampa oral instructions of Dromtönpa, Jetsun Marme Zepa. According to one's own tradition, some start from contemplating the suffering of samsara, some start from karma and its results, some (448) start from the difficulty of obtaining leisure and endowment, and most start from death and impermanence, etc. Although there are various approaches, they all converge on one key point, and there is no difference in meaning. However, in order to be consistent with the common and popular practice, if one starts from the difficulty of obtaining leisure and endowment, then it is the basis for contemplating impermanence. There is no difference in meaning between starting from contemplating impermanence, but it is said this way because things appear pleasant at the moment. Therefore, here are four points: contemplating the difficulty of obtaining leisure and endowment, contemplating death and impermanence, contemplating the suffering of the lower realms, and contemplating karma and its results. (449) The first point is: perform the seven-branch offering as before. Recite the prayer mentioned above a little. Then, analyze one's own body, dwelling, possessions, place, etc., and think that this human body that I have obtained this time is actually very difficult to obtain. I must not let it go to waste, but must use it to practice the Dharma. Take this as the basis for contemplation, and in general, place it at the beginning of all contemplations. To summarize this: hell beings, hungry ghosts, animals, barbarians, long-lived gods, and those with wrong views,
