Having seen the body of the departed, its color is like gold. The light is a fathom long. Innumerable Brahmas surround it by hundreds of thousands of trillions, and looking ahead, one sees it teaching the Dharma. These ten are the omens of the ten Bodhisattva grounds of the great Bodhisattvas, it is said. It is also said so in the "Golden Light Sutra." Which ground suppresses which pāramitā? Son of lineage! Among them, the Bodhisattva of the first ground (779) suppresses the pāramitā of generosity. Similarly, the second ground is discipline. The third ground is patience. The fourth ground is diligence. The fifth ground is meditation. The sixth ground is wisdom. The seventh ground is skillful means. The eighth ground is aspiration. The ninth ground is power. Son of lineage, among them, the Bodhisattva abiding on the tenth ground is: Suppressing the pāramitā of wisdom. The characteristics of the ten pāramitās are: From the "Extensive Chapter." Among them, seeking the wisdom of the Buddha and completely giving all roots of virtue to sentient beings is the pāramitā of generosity. The complete pacification of all suffering of afflictions is discipline. Having love and compassion as the vanguard, not harming sentient beings is patience. Seeking virtuous Dharma more and more, never being satisfied, this is diligence. To manifest omniscient wisdom, possessing the path of no regret, this is meditation. Manifesting what is unborn by nature, this is wisdom. Accomplishing the immeasurable wisdom of the victors, this is skillful means. Focusing on that wisdom (780) and manifesting it, this is aspiration. Not being able to have the continuum of the path completely cut off by all external opponents and all hosts of demons, this is power. Realizing all dharmas as they are, this is the wisdom pāramitā and the ten. As before with the samādhi, the mind of enlightenment of the first ground has seven branches. The eight noble paths from the second ground to the tenth ground. What is to be abandoned is what is abandoned by seeing and what is abandoned by cultivation. The obscurations of twenty kinds of ignorance are: Among them, son of lineage, the ignorance of clinging to characteristics in dharmas and persons, and The fear of the afflictions of samsara and the lower realms

Ignorance, these two ignorances obscure the first ground. Ignorance of the delusion of subtle downfalls, and ignorance of the arising of various actions and practices, these two ignorances obscure the second ground. Ignorance of wanting to obtain what has not been obtained, and ignorance of obtaining the supreme of pure dharanis, these two ignorances obscure the third ground. Ignorance of craving for the joy of that which is equally placed, and ignorance of craving for completely pure dharmas (781), these two ignorances obscure the fourth ground. Ignorance of being extremely weary of samsara, and ignorance of being manifestly inclined towards nirvana, these two ignorances obscure the fifth ground. Ignorance of the cause of formations preceding, and ignorance of the manifestation of coarse signs, these two ignorances obscure the sixth ground. Ignorance of the manifestation of subtle signs, and ignorance of not attending to signlessness, these two ignorances obscure the seventh ground. Ignorance of deliberately striving for signlessness, and ignorance of gaining power over grasping at signs, these two ignorances obscure the eighth ground. Having no measure for teaching the Dharma, and ignorance of not being skilled in words and letters without measure, and ignorance of not having obtained power over eloquence, these two ignorances obscure the ninth ground. Ignorance of not having obtained mastery over great superknowledge, and ignorance of not being skilled in subtle points such as ultimate meaning, these two ignorances (782) obscure the tenth ground. Ignorance of the obscuration of knowledge for all extremely subtle realms of experience, and ignorance of the place of extremely subtle afflictions, the wrong view, these two ignorances obscure the Buddha ground. What is realized by which ground is the realization that is free from obscurations? From the Sutra of the Boy Well-Appeared: Son of good family, for him, the first ground realizes the meaning of the all-pervading Dharmadhatu. The second ground realizes the meaning of the Dharmadhatu being stainless and supreme. The third ground realizes the Dharmadhatu being in accordance with its own nature, clear light. The fourth ground realizes the ability to completely hold all dharmas.
