In the Earth Bird year, the path that is not tainted by wrong views, the path that manifests wisdom, the path that is free from extremes, is the path that teaches the union of the two, and enters the great Madhyamaka, (265) calm abiding, insight, and samadhi. Practicing the path from higher to higher is called the supreme path of the mind. You realize as I do, I have received the prophecy of the Victorious One, you will also become enlightened here, and go to Sukhavati. Do not be discouraged by sentient beings who are difficult to tame, cultivate Bodhicitta. In the place of the self-arisen mandala of Supreme Bliss, tens of thousands of beings to be tamed will arise. Thus it was prophesied. Then he went to Tibet and accomplished the sole purpose of benefiting beings. He dug up the gold mine of Gulang, obtained a lot of gold, and again took it to Nepal and India, to Vajrasana and, the Victorious Maitripa and, Dha Bodhisattva, Jetsun Rinchen Lhamo, Sumati Kirti, the great Nepali Pamtingpa and other wise (266) and accomplished ones, he heard many profound teachings that he had not heard before, and countless instructions such as the Swift-Acting Wisdom Protector. They still did not satisfy his mind, so he took five hundred gold coins and traveled to all parts of India, east, west, south and north, asking who had personally met the accomplished master, the real Buddha. The pandits and accomplished ones unanimously said that Naropa Pandit's sister, the wisdom dakini named Niguma, who dwells in the three pure lands, is the only one who can directly request the Dharma from the Great Vajradhara. When asked where she lived, they replied, "If the appearance is pure, her face can be seen everywhere, if the appearance is impure, she cannot be found by searching, because she dwells in the pure land and has transformed into a rainbow body." However, in the forest of the great charnel ground of Sosa Continent, she sometimes descends as the (267) lord of the dakini assembly. Just hearing the name of the dakini, he developed devotion that made him cry and his hair stand on end. At that time, in the forest of the charnel ground of Sosa Continent, he went up, reciting the refuge prayer to the Buddha, and saw in the sky as high as seven tala trees, a dakini with a dark blue-black body, adorned with bone ornaments, holding a khatvanga and a skull cup in her hands, and many other forms of various kinds.

Previously, upon seeing the dance, I thought, 'Could this be the ḍākinī Niguma?' and prostrated. After circumambulating many times, I requested the true teachings. She said, 'I am not a flesh-eating ḍākinī. If my retinue comes, they will devour you, so flee quickly!' Then, again, after prostrating and circumambulating (268), I requested the secret mantra teachings. She said, 'To request the Great Vehicle secret mantra, gold is needed. If you have gold, give it.' So I offered five hundred srangs of gold, and she scattered it in the forest. At that moment, I thought, 'This certainly isn't a flesh-eating ḍākinī, and she doesn't seem to lack gold either.' That ḍākinī gazed intently at the sky, and countless ḍākinī attendants appeared from the sky. Some instantly built a three-tiered palace. Some constructed a maṇḍala of colored powders. Some gathered the implements for a gaṇacakra. On the night of the fifteenth, she bestowed the illusory body dream empowerment, and upon receiving the empowerment, she said, 'Tibetan young monk, come up here!' Relying on the ḍākinī's magical power (269), I traversed three yojanas in an instant, and in the sky above a not-so-large golden mountain, the assembly of ḍākinīs danced and remained. From the four directions of that mountain, four streams of golden water flowed. I asked, 'Is there such a golden mountain in India?' The ḍākinī said it was an emanation and spoke these words: 'Transforming the ocean of saṃsāra, into, these various thoughts of attachment and aversion, merely realizing their lack of inherent existence, all is a golden land, son. Upon phenomena that are like illusions, if you meditate as if they are illusions, you will manifestly awaken as if in an illusion. It arises from the power of devotion and respect.' Having said this, she bestowed the empowerments of the five classes of tantra and countless tantric methods and instructions, and especially the instructions on the six dharmas, the dream practice (270) once in a dream, and three times in reality, and sealed it as a single lineage for seven generations. Then, she also gradually blessed and promised to prophesy. After that, again taking five hundred srangs of gold, I went to the western part of India and asked who was a lama who could meet the actual Buddha. Someone said Paṇḍita Rolpai Dorje and Āryadeva, and Ḍāka
