In the midst of a dense forest, there was a stupa built by a retinue of the Buddha. A thousand monkeys defiled it with dirt and water, and considering that they would fall into the lower realms, he took birth as a monkey king. He was ugly in appearance, large in size, wore a jeweled hat on his head, and held a wooden rosary in his hand, manifesting in such a form. He taught the monkeys to prostrate and circumambulate the stupa, making them understand the law of cause and effect, and said: 'Oh, you monkeys, listen! Outward appearances are continuous, view it thus; inward awareness is without attachment, cultivate it thus; in between, there is no acceptance or rejection, act thus.' He said this, causing many of them to realize the truth and placing them in happiness. The people of that place said: 'In the depths of that forest, there is a monkey who has placed them all in happiness.' They often spoke and watched in this way. A king said to the monkey king: 'Wise ones, why do you live in happiness? Why do you live in comfort?' The monkey said: 'King of noble lineage, listen to me. The law of cause and effect and dependent origination, I have confirmed it as an infallible measure. This mind-essence that has always existed, I have understood it as the great bliss of the Dharmakaya. If I am false, may I, the monkey, die!' The king and his entourage exclaimed: 'Ema, how amazing!' With tears in their eyes, they prostrated and circumambulated, and then left. After that, the monkey king said to his retinue: 'All of us monkeys, no matter how things appear, do not cling to the six consciousnesses. No matter what kind of conceptual thoughts arise, do not cling to the root of mind-essence. No matter what kind of five poisons arise, abide in the clear light Dharmakaya!' He said this, causing all the monkeys to realize the truth. At that time, great omens occurred, such as light and rainbows in the sky, and the earth shaking, and he himself was amazed. Like a flame that has exhausted its fuel, his body was cremated like a jewel. He passed away into nirvana there for twenty-two years, and then took birth in the vast land of India (287 AD). He was born in the eastern part of India, in a place called Litsa, known as a vast place, in the center of a city, his father was a Brahmin merchant named Good Fortune, and his mother was named Moonlight.

The first of the seven sons was named Glorious One. Then at the age of seventeen, in a place called Odantapuri, he was ordained by Khenpo Khyapchok Gyalwa, and his name was Wisdom Armor. It is said that he belonged to the Mahasamghika school. He listened to the six assemblies of knowledge of Kad马拉希拉. At that time, a heretic named Raksha, with the face of a Rakshasa, who was destroying the Buddha's teachings, was defeated by reason. Also, a yogi named Nyima Sebpa, a learned pandita from Zahor, debated with him but could not win, and became a lama, he said that was my lama Mokchokpa. In the cemetery of Kaling in the west, when he went to practice in front of the self-arisen stupa, a short yogi with red eyes, holding a wooden sword, said: Life has no leisure (288), it will certainly not stay long. Having heard, gather the wisdom into the heart, look into the unadorned, stainless mirror. Abandoning samsara, one cannot achieve nirvana. Having said this, he understood that many dharmas are of one taste. He said that was my lama Spenphukpa. Then, he went to the cemetery where flames burned from the bones and practiced. Then, a yogi named Mina Ralpa, who had miraculous powers, said: What have you come for? He replied: I have come to practice. He said: If you meditate on seeing the forest, you will attain bliss. Knowing that all is mind, you will be in harmony. Thus, progress was made in practice. He said that was my lama Tsari Gompa. Then, when he circumambulated Pal Yon, at the base of that stupa, a yogi riding a tiger, wearing clothes of the sun, said: Memory self-liberates, like ripples in water. Without cessation, like the essence of the sun. Awareness is appearance, like a clear mirror. Clear and without cessation, like a crystal egg. Having said this, he placed his hand on my head, and immeasurable samadhi (289) arose. He said that was my lama Zhang Gom Chos Seng. Then, wanting to see a Chenrezig temple in Bodh Gaya, on the way, an old woman wearing a lotus garland said: Where are you going? He replied: I am going to see Arya Avalokiteshvara. The old woman said: Loving-kindness and compassion, bodhichitta, if you cultivate yourself, you are the great compassionate one. If you do not cultivate, the Buddha will not transfer. Compassion, union.
