It is said that, having developed faith in him, he took a bag of brown sugar and went to the monastery. A white dog, said to be a killer, came out to greet him. Then, a yogi wearing ragged clothes and holding prayer beads was sitting there and asked, "Which lama do you wish to see?" I replied, "I wish to see Lama Brown Sugar." The man said, "Then please wait inside." He left. I asked, "Where has Lama Brown Sugar gone?" The man replied, "The so-called Lama Brown Sugar is me." There wasn't even an attendant. Then, I offered the brown sugar as a gift. The lama asked, "Where are you from?" I replied, "I am from Yaruk Shangpa (near present-day Xigaze County, Tibet). I have developed faith in the teachings of Naropa, please accept (158)." The lama dismounted from the horse and rode a donkey, saying, "Could such a thing be? A lama like Shangpa, so learned, disciplined, and accomplished, asking for teachings from a yogi like me?" I earnestly said, "Please accept it anyway." The lama said, "Okay, if you have faith, come. I will provide you with Dharma service." So that winter I stayed in the meditation room and requested teachings, and the lama bestowed both maturation and liberation. In terms of the empowerment of maturation, he completed the empowerment of the thirteen deities of Chakrasamvara, and the four empowerments of the thirteen deities of Vajravarahi, and received the blessings four times. In terms of the path of liberation, from the two aspects of generation stage and completion stage, in the generation stage, he received the empowerments of the thirteen deities of Chakrasamvara, the thirteen deities of Vajravarahi, the Two-Faced Mother, and the One Hero. In the completion stage, from the two aspects of means and wisdom, the wisdom aspect is the key to integrating Mahamudra into the path. In terms of means, there are four lineages of oral transmission: Vajradhara Holder of the Vajra), Vajrapani Hand Holding the Vajra), Vajrapani transmitted to Lodro Rinchen, Lodro Rinchen transmitted to Nagarjuna (159), Nagarjuna transmitted to Matangi, Matangi transmitted to Tilopa. This is the lineage of transference of consciousness and entering another body. The Great Brahmin, Lui-pa, Lui-pa transmitted to Dingipa, Dingipa transmitted to Tilopa. This is the lineage of clear light. Sumati Kunduzangmo, transmitted to Tanglopa, Tanglopa transmitted to Shinglopa, Shinglopa transmitted to Karnaripa, Karnaripa transmitted to Tilopa, this is the lineage of Tummo. Master Dombi Heruka, transmitted to the wine-selling woman Vinapa, Vinapa transmitted to Lavapa, Lavapa transmitted to Tailopa, this is the lineage of illusory body and Bardo. Furthermore, the illusory body in dreams, Master Nagarjuna is the one who gathers the essential points of the four times, therefore it is said to hold Anuttara at the throat. Sumti Kunduzangmo is the one who gathers consciousness.

is the key. He said to visualize a bindu at the brow. Lhawa Pa said that the main part of consciousness is mind, so in the center of the heart, visualize a flame four fingers high. That lama had countless expedient path instructions. I also asked many times. Then (page 160), the lama said, "Now meditate," and I went into strict retreat and meditated single-pointedly for eleven months. One night in a dream, I went to a very narrow cliff and fell off. I had a very good dream. When I told the lama, the lama said, "Your diligence and accumulation are very good. Naropa said, 'Even those with the highest faculties may take years to accomplish.' So, your human body has become meaningful, and the meaning of lifetimes will be fulfilled. This is the lama's compassion and the dakini's blessing. Make a tsok offering to the lama, yidam, and dakinis." After saying this, he sold a piece of sugar and six sho of gold and made a tsok khor for those in the meditation cave. Then, at the end of winter, one of the lama's female yaks was stolen by Drak Rumpa. The lama said, "I am formally practicing Dharma, actually making offerings to the gods, and dedicating my life to Dharma, but the female yak was stolen by the enemy. (Page 161) Now I have no power. Rinchen Tsondru, you cast hail. You will traverse many paths and bhumis." After that, I cast a summer hailstorm, and the hail was three layers of walls high. Many people and livestock died, and there was no harvest. People said that hail and magic appeared at the same time, so I became a hail master. The lama said, "Since you are a hail caster, go and collect the hail." After I went, the hail killed many people and livestock, and there were piles of frozen bird corpses everywhere, and I felt very sad. After that, Drak Rumpa returned the livestock and offered horses and jade armor and other valuable things to the lama. I said, "I came to practice Dharma, but I have done so many bad things. Now I have nowhere to go but hell." Then I cried. The lama said, "Because you did it for the Dharma and the lama, there will be no sin, and you will traverse many paths and bhumis. If you are still uneasy, (page 162) even those who have committed the five heinous crimes have the key to attaining enlightenment in this very life, and the
