Due to the power of the land, the birthplace for the benefit of sentient beings is: the south where the Pakshu River flows slowly, the west where the immaculate Nyangro River, which increases the wisdom of merit, flows north. Praised for its many virtues by wise and accomplished lamas, the great monastery of virtuous Sangha, the root of the precious doctrine, is the foundation of the great Stongkor monastery. The central mountain with many virtues of observation, like a pile of উৎপལ་ flowers or the flourishing east. The land is flat and wide, and the crops and fruits ripen more than other places. All places are pleasant, and the fertile land where happiness and joy increase, with water springs distributed like a net. In the past, the great translator Vairochana and the great scholar Tsang Nagpa and others were born here. In the place called Nyangme Chungpa Yuwa Dong, there was a householder of the Grama caste who engaged in the deeds of the ten virtues. He was of good character and (499) very shy. The father was called Gyalpo Tshepel, and the lineage was Ding. The mother was called Gyamokhe Dren, and it is said that she had faith, compassion, and empathy. Rinpoche said, "My mother seems to be a descendant of the Dakini Ata." When the mother was alive, the village and paternal relatives were healthy. The mother's words were all reasonable. It is said that because of physical weakness, he fled to Chongphu and was cared for by a woman named Majo Chokyi. When the master Gyaton was teaching Nya Chos, he was taken to hear the teachings of Mai and the small teachings of Tropu. At the age of four, he returned to his hometown. In the summer, while repairing the canals, he sat in the fields and saw the hermitage of Sodum, and felt very happy, wanting to watch, and felt very peaceful in his heart. He pointed there and asked, and the mother said, "That is the residence of the accomplished Hūṃ(藏文,梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,汉语字面意思)འབར་(Hūṃ,हूं,hūṃ,吽)pa." Later, he still liked that mountain and wanted to watch it, so he watched it often. Sometimes he thought, "It would be nice to live there." Sometimes he would stare blankly without distraction. This seemed to be the arising of clear light, boundless samadhi. Later, he began to study and live in seclusion.

When the (Guru) resided and appeared, there was no certainty of when death would occur. Because this samsara is of the nature of suffering and unbearable, I thought I must practice meditation, and a strong sense of renunciation arose. Combining with the previous meditation, the mind, in the realm of clear light and boundlessness, nakedly recognized its own nature, and the definite understanding arose that this meditation itself was sufficient. It is said that such a thing also happened. Therefore, I pray to the precious Lama who, through past practice, effortlessly and naturally awakens the stainless karmic connections. In the great Dharma monastery of Narthang (Snar-thang, located in present-day Shigatse, Tibet), (501) having gone forth and proclaimed the monastic precepts, having studied all the Sutras, Tantras, treatises, and instructions, I pray to you, the learned, virtuous, and holy one. The meaning of this is said to be as follows: When Rinpoche was less than ten years old, he went forth at Narthang Monastery before Khenchen Chhimpa Yizhin Norbu Rinpoche and took the vows of a novice monk. At the age of twenty, he received full ordination. Having requested from the teacher Lokya, he possessed the pure monastic precepts. From Khenchenpa, he heard all the minor Vinaya rules, including the meditation sequence, as well as the upper and lower Abhidharma, and almost all of the Prajnaparamita section. And the teachings of treatises such as the Compendium of Trainings (Śikṣāsamuccaya) and the Guide to the Bodhisattva's Way of Life (Bodhicaryāvatāra), as well as the Stages of the Path (Lamrim), the Lamp for the Path to Enlightenment (Bodhipathapradīpa), the Supreme Path, the instructions on the three types of individuals, and other Kadampa instructions, as well as the Middle Way Jewel Garland (Madhyamakaratnavali) and many other teachings. At that time, (502) he studied the Abhisamayalankara, Pramana, and Collected Topics with the teachers Chumikpa and Lodrakpa. It is said that after teaching, he also served as a Geshe for several years. When he turned twenty-one, thinking that he must practice renouncing this life, and for that, he needed to hear the teachings including the tantras and instructions, he went to Sakya. He heard the Hevajra (Hevajra, Devanagari: हेवज्र, Romanization: hevajra, meaning: Extremely Joyful Vajra), the Dakini Vajra Tent, the Sambuta, etc., from Lama Chokyi Dorje. He heard all the Tsok offerings from the teacher Dharmapala. He heard many empowerments and instructions on Hevajra and Chakrasamvara, etc., from Lama Nyitokpa. He heard the Liberation Path and the Treasury of Reasoning from the teacher Bangtonpa. He learned the practice of Inner Ghanta. He also taught the Dharma once to Zur Chopa Pontrap Yunshé and Nupa Yonten Pel. Those were also studies related in terms of words and meaning.
