Ah! Since the two obscurations, knowledge obscurations and afflictive obscurations, are purified in their own place, there is great abandonment. Complete with all the qualities of wisdom and compassion. 'This means having suchness and as-many-ness wisdom, and all the qualities such as unbiased compassion, is Great realization. In this way, with great abandonment, one does not abide in samsara. With great realization, one does not abide in peaceful nirvana, but attains Buddhahood in its own nature. 'Inconceivable, inexpressible, beyond mind, the Buddha is self-born,' which means that such a Buddha is not from elsewhere, nor is it newly found, but the very nature of mind, having been released from adventitious stains, becomes a self-born Buddha. Taking the Path from Mind to Decisiveness as the Bardo Path The fourth root text, taking the path from mind to decisiveness as the bardo path, is: 'The correct introduction to the bardo reveals profound meaning.' This means that of the three types of individuals mentioned earlier—those who are diligent and attain enlightenment in this life, those who are moderately diligent and attain enlightenment in the intermediate state of existence (bardo), and those who are extremely lazy and attain enlightenment after many lifetimes—this instruction is taught to the latter two to bring them to decisiveness. Because it does not fall into either extreme, or because it exists between the former and the latter, it is called bardo (intermediate state). At that time, if one remembers the instruction in one's mind, one will attain momentary clarity and thus sever the path, which is why it is called the yoga of decisiveness. It is divided into three: the bardo of the embodied basis, the bardo of definite signs, and the bardo of the introductory result. The first is: 'Cutting off the bardos of birth, death, dreams, and existence,' which divides the bardo into three: the bardo of the birth-place from birth to death, the bardo of dreams from falling asleep to waking up, and the bardo of existence from death to rebirth. The teaching that reveals the individual who does not need bardo instructions is: 'No need to look, the supreme seeing of the unseen,' up to 'Look at your own arising,' which reveals that this very nature of mind, where the basis and result are inseparable, is not established as anything—neither real nor unreal, neither existent nor nonexistent—and is therefore inconceivable and unseeable. Seeing that very state of affairs is the supreme seeing. In this way, although the appearance of self-awareness is clear, its essence is emptiness, free from all adventitious obscurations. Therefore, it is the supreme, unchanging great bliss, and the emptiness endowed with all supreme aspects. The nature of the wisdom of the dharmadhatu is completely pure and has always been present within oneself. By taming it with the path of liberation, the three kayas manifest in an inseparable manner as self-arising and self-liberating. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There is no need to rely on instructions. 19-387 The person who needs the Bardo instructions is: As it says, 'For those embodied who have not realized, there are three Bardos,' generally speaking, those who have not realized need the instructions for the three Bardos. Second, Regarding the Bardo of Recognizing Signs: 'Generation stage illusory body clear light merges into Dharmakaya,' meaning that for those who are skilled in the generation stage and have some experience with the completion stage of Tummo and the illusory body, and who can manifest and become accustomed to the clear light of day and night, they need the guidance of the first Bardo; for those who have some experience with the generation stage and Tummo, illusory body, and who are skilled in using dream illusions, they need the guidance of the second Bardo; for those who practice the generation stage and Tummo, illusory body, etc., and who can practice dream yoga at night, they need the guidance of the third Bardo. That is to say, when awake, one should focus on the generation stage and Tummo, illusory body, etc., and when asleep, one should focus on the instructions of dream and clear light; in all circumstances, one should think that all appearances of oneself, others, the environment, and sentient beings are Bardo appearances; especially when feelings of fear and sorrow arise, one should think that these are Bardo illusions and rest in their true nature, or think that everything is like a dream or illusion. 19-388 One should learn the arising and dissolving of the illusory body deity. One must clearly and firmly remember the various states of death and Bardo. Third, regarding the Bardo of Recognizing the Fruit, there are three types: The best is to transform death into the path in the Bardo of encountering Dharmakaya; the intermediate is to make a firm resolution in the Bardo of universal existence; the worst is to set the power of aspiration in the Bardo of rebirth. The first is: from 'Earth, water, fire, and wind gradually dissolve' to 'There is nothing better,' this describes the first Bardo, that is, the way the twenty coarse aspects dissolve at the time of death: the dissolution of the form aggregate causes the body to weaken and energy to be exhausted; the dissolution of mirror-like wisdom causes the mind to become unclear and blurred; the dissolution of the earth element causes the body to become thin; the dissolution of the eye sense causes vision to become unclear; the dissolution of form causes the body to lose its luster; the dissolution of the feeling aggregate causes the body's sensations to diminish; the dissolution of equality wisdom causes the inability to recall the three feelings; the dissolution of the water element causes the body's sweat and saliva to dry up; the dissolution of the ear sense causes the inability to hear external sounds; the dissolution of sound causes the inability to hear one's own sound; the dissolution of the perception aggregate causes the inability to recall sentient beings; the dissolution of discriminating wisdom --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
