Thereafter, a promise is made to explain other expedient methods for swiftly attaining Buddhahood, apart from the meditation on the generation and completion stages. Therefore, this chapter is called the 'Chapter on Conduct'. The reason for teaching this immediately after the completion stage is that the generation and completion stages make the mind, which is not स्थिर (Tibetan: མི་གནས་པ་, Sanskrit: स्थिर, Romanization: Sthira, Meaning: stable), become स्थिर, while conduct enhances the state of स्थिर. From what does this also stem? It stems from the word 'ability' in the concise teaching. The reason is that through the generation and completion stages, the mind becomes stable, thereby gaining the ability to transform the disbelief of others, and therefore conduct must be practiced. It is also divided into six aspects: essence, definition, necessity, time, division, and the order of how to practice. First, the essence is to practice equally in samsara and nirvana, without abandoning the side of samsara or taking to the side of peace. Second, the definition is: For the generation stage, 'stage' refers to the deity's form, 'behavior' refers to the ordinary activities of body, speech, and mind, and 'entering' refers to transforming into a part of हेरुक (Tibetan: ཧེ་རུ་ཀ, Sanskrit: हेरुक, Romanization: Heruka, Meaning: Heruka). For the completion stage, 'awareness' refers to the experience of Romanization: Sahaja, Meaning: co-emergent), 'behavior' refers to ordinary conceptual thoughts, and 'entering' refers to experiencing आनंद (Tibetan: བདེ་བ, Sanskrit: आनंद, Romanization: Ānanda, Meaning: bliss). Third, the necessity is indicated by 'conduct is the supreme perfection', etc., which means not breaking the Buddha's teachings, traversing the twelve bhumis, being blessed by the dakinis, approaching Buddhahood, and attaining the siddhi of Hevajra. Fourth, the time is 'when a little warmth is obtained', etc., which means when warmth is obtained and ability is gained, that is, when one is able to transform the disbelief of others. Fifth, in terms of division, generally, conduct is taught in three ways: the conduct of a beginner, the conduct of relying on thought and learning, and the conduct of awareness and asceticism. The first is when one engages in activities during session breaks by learning the generation stage. The second is when one becomes slightly accustomed and stops the activities during session breaks, making the mind स्थिर through the generation and completion stages. Sixth, the order of how to practice is: Holding the ordinary body, speech, and mind as signs of Vajra Arali, stopping them in their own place, and because of practicing in the dharmadhatu of Samantabhadra, the all-pervading lord of all that is constant and moving, without beginning or end, it is called the conduct of Samantabhadra. That is, taming each arising conceptual thought by looking at it, investigating the root of destruction, and recognizing it as it is. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

By abiding without contrivance, one knows all dharmas to be one's own mind. By establishing one's own mind as Buddha, it is like turning a bad omen into auspiciousness. All the conceptual thoughts that bind one to samsara are equal in taste in the state of no self-nature, so this is called the instruction of 'transforming conceptual thoughts into the path'. Once you understand this principle, you transform ignorance into great wisdom; similarly, greed, hatred, pride, and jealousy are also transformed into great wisdom. Because these afflictions no longer bind, but become the supreme method of liberation, like turning poison into nectar, it is called 'transforming afflictions into the path'. Or, everything that others do not want is made into something to be practiced here, so it is also called 'reversal meditation'. As it is taught: 'Through the yoga of constant meditation, by abiding in equanimity, one attains accomplishment.' Then, begin the secret conduct. 'Practice secretly for a month.' This means disguising oneself as a beggar or a madman and acting secretly, so it is called secret conduct. In this regard, with knowledge of clothing, ornaments, food, companions, and rituals, in places such as cemeteries or remote areas, abandon hope and accept doubt. In order to subdue and control gods and demons, transform obstacles into accomplishments, this is called 'transforming gods and demons into the path'. Then, begin the conduct of the gathering. In order to gain power, this conduct is used for the gathering wheel, so it is called gathering conduct. As the text says: 'The posture of the practitioner...' Transform into the attire of Heruka, leading one, eight, or fifteen consorts who are in accordance with one's own lineage. This is called very simple, simple, and not simple conduct. Offer the body to the lama, distinguish what should be accepted and what should be abandoned, and abide in the yoga of no acceptance or rejection, thereby beginning the great conduct of Vajra Arali. This is also in order to transform all states of samsara into bodhicitta through the method of the mandala wheel and the order of self-blessing, so it is called 'transforming suffering into the path'. Transforming all subtle and gross causes and conditions, such as illness, into the play of equality, so it is called 'transforming illness into the path', also known as 'equalizing the five aggregates'. Then, begin the great practice, which is the conduct of completely overcoming all directions. Because this overcomes the grasped and the grasper, or overcomes the four maras, it is called 'complete victory'. The conduct of the gathering wheel is practiced for three months. Yeshe Tsogyal said, in order to increase the joy of the yidam... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
