All those killed are absorbed into the Mahamudra, forming a Buddha-body endowed with the seven branches of union. The rainfall symbolizes not abiding in peace through the sixteen perfections of compassion. The absence of clouds symbolizes not abiding in samsara through the sixteen perfections of emptiness. The remaining activities symbolize benefiting sentient beings with various activities as long as the sky exists. Chapter 15-644 The Chapter of Deities Now, the third chapter, the Chapter of Deities, will be explained. As the text says, 'Starting with the Chapter of Deities,' and so on. The connection with the previously explained chapter on mantras is: As the *Gur* says, 'One with meditation should recite mantras.' Mantras are accomplished through recitation and repetition, and repetition depends on the yoga of deities. Therefore, the yoga of deities is taught here, hence this chapter is called 'Deities.' The term 'deity' (lha) is either because it subdues those who previously attributed deities to Brahma and others, or because it is *deva udbhava*. *Deva* means arising from the body, hence it is called a deity. From the body arises the conventional Bodhicitta, and from that arises the ultimate Bodhicitta, which itself manifests as all the wheels of the deities. As the *Samputa* says, 'Where there is great bliss, it is unique.' With a unique demeanor, it performs many dances. And as the *First Holy One* says, 'Because it truly enters into bliss, it is therefore called a deity.' And as this text says, 'Because it arises from the body, it is manifestly called a deity.' From what does this chapter arise? From 'How do the deities arise?' The deities refer to the four Herukas, etc. How do they arise? They arise through the generation stage, either profound or not profound, in whatever way is appropriate. Therefore, it will be explained in detail here. Chapter 15-645 On the Classification of Yoga Here Here is the classification of yoga, detailing the distinctions of the generation stage. First, the Venerable One said, 'The generation stage is named by the Mantra Vehicle; in the Paramita Vehicle, it is called conventional truth. The completion stage is named by the Vajra Vehicle; otherwise, it is called ultimate truth.' The two stages exist equally, as Shakyamuni Buddha taught in the Characteristic Vehicle that the two truths are inseparable. Here, Vajradhara also taught that the generation and completion stages are inseparable. Vajrahṛdaya said, 'The generation stage has the mind of aspiration; the completion stage has the mind of entering.' --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

'Beings and dharmas with the supreme form of peace, in whatever way the Victor meditates, he sees his own mind as it is. All these forms are the mind of aspiration. The entering mind is also that one mind.' Thus it is said. Furthermore, the generation stage focusing on sentient beings and phenomena, and the completion stage focusing on non-objectification, are also taught there. That is, the generation stage is singular, focusing on sentient beings and phenomena. Secondly, non-objectification is what accomplishes the completion stage. 15-646 In both this and the Kalachakra, the generation stage is inferred, and the completion stage is said to be the yoga of direct perception. Such generation and completion stages are like steps on a ladder. Although many desires and so on arise, Jowo Naropa considers that for beginners, one should first practice in one seat and then meditate on union. As it is said in this very text: 'The generation stage itself, and also the completion stage, when the two stages are equally present, Vajradhara will teach the Dharma.' Here, taking the beginner as an example, the generation stage is practiced to reverse attachment to the body, recitation to reverse attachment to speech, and the completion stage to reverse attachment to mind. Generation Stage: Meditating with conceptual thought is the non-profound generation stage. The generation stage has five aspects: essence, definition, classification, the cause of realization, and result. First, the essence is: generating the deity to be generated in various ways. Second, the definition is: the generation stage because it arises from the wisdom continuum, meaning it does not arise immediately but gradually. Third, classification: divided into the non-profound generation stage of meditating with conceptual thought, and the profound generation stage of meditating as a self-existent deity. 15-647 First, for the non-profound generation stage, there are two parts: identifying the basis to be purified and explaining the purifying generation stage. First, in general, the basis to be purified in the generation stage has three aspects: the ordinary aspect, the appearance aspect, and the attachment aspect. Specifically, the four birthplaces of sentient beings, and among them, the womb-born, have five states, four great elements, self-awareness great bliss, and four arising from fragments and parts. Arising from the five states refers to the five stages of the fetus in the womb, from the mixing of sperm and blood with consciousness into a mass, until the form is complete. The four great elements refer to the four elements of earth, water, fire, and wind. Self-awareness great bliss refers to the blissful feeling arising from the two bindus and consciousness during parental union. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
