As explained in the Kriyātantra and other texts, the practice of Prajñāpāramitā takes an extremely long time to accomplish. However, in the Yogatantras, through the combination of cause and effect, all of Mahāyāna is included, therefore, enlightenment is attained very quickly. If someone asks: 'This statement contradicts the Kriyātantra, which says that accomplishment cannot be achieved quickly,' it refers to the slower attainment of results before the Yogatantra, not to the countless eons required like in Prajñāpāramitā. 11-267 The view of Kriyātantra is that in this very life, by relying on mantras, one attains the accomplishment of a vidyādhara (mantra holder), enjoys the pleasures of the gods, and through the practice of the path, one attains Buddhahood. As stated in the Mañjuśrīmūlatantra: 'Those with karma in this life, effortlessly accomplish mantras.' And in the Akṣobhyakrodharāja Tantra: 'This is the wheel-turning sky-goer among all vidyādharas in the Buddhafields, attaining inconceivable qualities, living for countless eons.' 'The light of the sun and moon, the glorious tamer of the untamable, universally benefiting beings with virtuous deeds, in countless Buddhafields, this is the object of offering.' 'Hearing the inconceivable Dharma, whoever with wisdom hears it, will generate inconceivable Buddha qualities.' And in the Vairocanābhisambodhi Tantra, it also says: 'They rejoice in their hearts, attain long life, enjoy the five desirable qualities, make offerings to the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, and accomplish this path that is uncommon to the world.' The Tathāgatas and Bodhisattvas, seeing this benefit, also joyfully explain the rituals of secret mantra practice. 11-268 Why is this? Because what a Bodhisattva cannot attain even after striving and toiling for countless eons, performing difficult deeds, a Bodhisattva, through the door of secret mantra, can attain in just one lifetime while practicing the Bodhisattva conduct. In the Yogatantra, it is said that a person with Dharma is brought into the mandala, and merely by bestowing wisdom (jñāna) attains the first bhūmi (prathamabhūmi, first Bodhisattva ground), and then quickly becomes a Buddha. A person without Dharma first takes vows to avoid future evil deeds, and then gradually becomes a Buddha, and at the latest, will definitely become a Buddha within sixteen lives. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In Vajraśekhara it says: 'Having attained the stage of great joy, there is no doubt about the Vajra nature itself. Or just by seeing it, sixteen lifetimes of suffering will be extinguished. Having attained great joy, or it is the Vajra nature itself. On the earth, the sun and moon fall, and that will transform into the nature of space. Ordinary beings can also achieve Buddhahood, but not elsewhere.' Ācārya Sarvahrdaya said: 'Just by entering these, wisdom will descend. Then, with the descent of wisdom, one will attain stages such as great joy.' Therefore, if achieving all Tathāgatas is difficult to find, what need is there to mention other accomplishments? In the Mahāyoga Tantra it says: 'Those with sharp faculties and great diligence will achieve it in this lifetime; those of medium ability will achieve it at the time of death or in the Bardo; the least will achieve it after three, seven, or sixteen lifetimes.' In the Samputa it says: 'Even if Bodhisattvas strive and seek for kalpas as numerous as the sands of the Ganges, they will not attain enlightenment. But a Bodhisattva who delights in the Guhyasamāja will be counted among the Buddhas in this lifetime.' The Samputa Tantra says: 'In short, one can achieve Buddhahood. In countless kalpas, as many Buddhas as are attained, you will attain in this life through the bliss of the holy.' The Kālacakra says: 'Miraculous powers, omniscience, and being the supreme of the three realms are attained by yogis in this lifetime. If one enters the path and dies, then by his realization, he will attain it in another life.' The Vimalaprabhā says: 'The king of tantras is the one who bestows the fruit of Buddhahood in this very life. This is not the case for beings such as gods.' The Vajrahṛdaya Commentary says: 'The statement that Buddhahood is bestowed in this very life refers to achieving it after taking human rebirths again and again, and not to gods and asuras.' This means that binding the coarse realm and quickly attaining unsurpassed wisdom is possible only for a great person with six realms and two assemblies, and not on other supports. Therefore, the statement that one can achieve it in one lifetime refers to a person who has accumulated vast merits and reached a high level, and not to ordinary beings. If it is said that ordinary beings can also achieve it, that is not possible, the root... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
