The three combinations (sbyor ba gsum): each is divided into small, medium, and large, making a total of nine. Further divided into small of small, etc., these nine are again divided into three, making a total of twenty-seven. Seventh, the mental activity of praise, respect, and commendation (bstod bkur bsngags pa yid byed ni): this refers to generating joy in practicing. Also as before, there are twenty-seven. Eighth, the mental activity of dedication (bsngo ba yid byed ni): Lo-chen said, 'Depending on for whose benefit the dedication is made, what is dedicated, by whom it is dedicated, the manner of dedication, and what result is obtained, there are twelve characteristics.' For whose benefit? It is for the sake of pursuing the great Bodhi (byang chub chen po'i ched du'o). What is dedicated? It is the root of virtue of the past, present, and future three times. The object of dedication and being free from the nature of characteristics are the characteristics of dedication. Possessing wisdom that realizes emptiness, free from inverted clinging, is the characteristic of who dedicates. To achieve the goal, with the virtue of no self-nature, through such a mind, the dedication is made. To achieve the goal, and the object and the giver, these characteristics become the act of dedication, becoming the mind-dharma of the giver. The characteristics of its own nature are fivefold: just as the Buddhas (sangs rgyas) enter Nirvana (yongs su mya ngan las 'das pa), for the sake of the object, object, giver, and the act itself of dedication, one should also remember and realize the state of Nirvana. Combined with means such as giving, not being tainted by the poison of characteristics, as the Buddha knows, as the Dharma nature abides, with greater devotion, not clinging to the fruits of the three realms, possessing five excellent characteristics that do not belong to the three realms. Depending on how much merit (bsod nams) is held, its power also differs. Its characteristics are threefold: arranging the ten worldly virtues from ten to five; arranging the perfections of the Hearers from Stream-enterer to Arhat; for beings who have entered the faultless Bodhisattva path, with the merit obtained from offerings filling three thousand worlds, one can hold small, medium, and large merit. Similarly, dividing into small of small, etc., into twenty-seven, as before. Ninth, the mental activity of rejoicing (rjes su yid rang ba yid la byed pa ni): this refers to, with conventional and ultimate as objects, rejoicing in the virtues of oneself and others in the past, present, and future three times, experiencing joy and delight. As before, there are twenty-seven. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tenth, the practice path (bsgrub pa sgom lam) is: Lo chen (lo chen, great translator) said that there are two kinds of uncontaminated practice paths: one is to realize illusion-like by manifesting other-powered (gzhan dbang), and the other is to realize like space by manifesting perfectly established (yongs su grub pa). The first is the path of manifesting merits, and the second is the path of eliminating faults. As it is said in the 'Ornament of the Sutras' (mdo sde rgyan): 'The excellent Dharma well-established by the Buddha, place this mind in the realm of the root Dharma. Remembering the continuum, only knowing the teachings that are mere conceptual thoughts, quickly reach the other shore of the ocean of merits.' This explains the aspect of pure worldly knowledge. 'The power of non-discriminating wisdom of the wise, constantly and universally tends towards the state of equality. Relying on this, the thicket of accumulated faults, like removing poison with a great antidote, is removed.' This explains the aspect of transcendental non-discrimination. Furthermore, in the 'Uttaratantra Shastra' (theg pa chen po rgyud bla ma): 'Like pools of water, etc., desires, etc., the sudden purification of afflictions, in short, is the fruit of non-discriminating wisdom.' 'Possessing all excellent aspects, definitely attaining the body of the Buddha, this is said to be the fruit of subsequent wisdom.' In short, this should be known as the function of the two wisdoms: the body of liberation is the conduct, and the Dharmakaya is the perfection.' Therefore, the nature of the first is: the practice path of realizing illusion-like by manifesting other-powered, the subsequent wisdom of the practice path, the aspect of pure worldly knowledge, the classification of names. Lo chen said that there are five kinds of practice: the nature of what can be practiced is the nature of not being inverted in other-powered, and the excellent means of obtaining the Dharma, and the non-arising and elimination of attachment to the reality of all things. What is to be practiced, in terms of the difference in ability on which it depends, the qualities of the Bodhisattva (byang chub sems dpa', Bodhisattva) state, can harm because of non-attachment, and can obtain the great benefit of Buddhahood. Eleventh, the nature of the pure path is: the practice path of realizing like space by manifesting perfectly established, the samadhi wisdom of the practice path, the practice path, the meaning of the aspect of transcendental non-discrimination. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
