Collected Teachings of the Omniscient Pema Karpo PK46: The Door to Entering the Prajnaparamita Sutra 7-406 The Door to Entering the Prajnaparamita Sutra Divided into Seventy Meanings The Door to Entering the Prajnaparamita Sutra I prostrate to the lotus feet of the venerable regent of our teacher (referring to Maitreya Bodhisattva), who composed the treatise 'Abhisamayalankara' and widely propagated it, and is known as the teacher. Opening the supreme light of scriptures and approaching propagation, guiding the efforts of the three ancestral generations of Tibet (Songtsen Gampo, Trisong Detsen, and Tri Ralpachen). Starting from the translator (referring to Lochen Rinchen Zangpo), like the messenger of spring, 7-407 Through the power of the wise ones arriving in succession like summer, like the sun's power, the glory of the lotus sea of my heart, the treasure of the fragrance of Manjushri's arrival, the essence of the hundred-petaled white words, reveals itself with a smiling pistil. What is being discussed here? It is the Prajnaparamita Sutra. Who explains it? Maitreya Bodhisattva's 'Abhisamayalankara' explained in the sutras. Who expounds it? The eloquent tongue of the teacher Haribhadra. To whom is it expounded? To those who can endure studying the essence of the teachings. Where is it expounded? In the 'Clear Meaning Commentary'. How is it expounded? To facilitate entry, this is taught. Generally, the Buddha's teachings are mostly bound by six endings (six paramitas). That is guiding the blind, relying on letters, which is the meaning of uprightness, or establishing terminology. At this time, the provisional meaning (referring to expedient teachings) must be placed in neutrality, because beginners cannot understand it. If taught when they cannot understand, they will not generate faith. They will regress because of it. If they regress, they will become unsuitable vessels for the Dharma. At this time, they will think it is reasonable, and admit that it is correct. Therefore, the scriptures are internally inconsistent, leading to various sects and different views. When ignorance dissipates and one becomes proficient in words, one will no longer cling to this. Explaining the six endings separately, 7-408 Guiding in meaning. It is the definitive meaning or reality. At this time, there will be no conflict within the scriptures. All eighty-four thousand Dharma doors are connected to the teaching of emptiness, just as all rivers flow into the ocean. All lower vehicles are seen as steps to ascend to the higher. Therefore, accomplishment is in one vehicle. As Maitreya Bodhisattva said: 'How it smells, like a wonderful fragrant flower, tasting like delicious medicine, the Dharma is also like that, abiding in both, one should know the meaning and the words.' The way the expressive words show the expressed: directly grasping is the direct meaning, what is not obvious but exists within, what needs to be shown by oral instructions, is the hidden meaning. The order is: Prajna... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Like Maitreya and Asanga, and Nāgārjuna and Jetsun (possibly referring to Atiśa) explained it. The direct teaching here is wisdom (Prajñā), so it is first explained manifestly through scripture. The latter mainly shows meditative stabilization (Dhyāna) as the object of meditation, so it belongs to the Sūtra. Since all the trainings of a Bodhisattva are included here, it is also suitable for the Vinaya, so the Prajñāpāramitā is the essence of all teachings. Here, the omniscience of the Śrāvakas is explained, so the omniscience of the Pratyekabuddhas must be understood. The meaning of words like 'also,' 'again,' and 'still' must be understood through implication, i.e., suggestion. Although the Saṃgha of Bodhisattvas is explained by words such as 'dull and sharp faculties,' later generations used it as a symbol of the Śrāvaka Saṃgha, which is a side note. Since the words expressing the latter also imply it, they must be acknowledged separately. If the object of teaching is covered by direct and indirect means, it is to erase the name of the treatise. Likewise, in debate, do not violate the terms set by the rules, because they were set by the Buddha and his great sons (Bodhisattvas). Eloquent words that do not violate are refutation and response, which is to dispel doubts, the adornment of the doctrine. Nowadays, if one relies on arbitrary summary knowledge and establishes new rules to protect it, that is the trick of Māra, the real pinnacle of destroying the doctrine. Even when writing, the purpose, summary, meaning of words, connection, refutation, and response should be consistent with the previous scholars and be flexible according to the situation. If you do not understand, let alone. Even if you understand, do not corrupt the words of the scriptures. Before the dawn of the proponent, the sun of refutation rises. Since the treatises have become dark, wise people have nowhere to go, which is a bad omen of the collapse of the Tripiṭaka, so it must be avoided. Therefore, those who wish to improve themselves should examine whether they have taught the Dharma properly and whether they have practiced it properly. After advising in this way, first establish the terms, and then show the ultimate meaning. That is, all those who wish to study the grounds of Śrāvakas, Pratyekabuddhas, and Buddhas must study the Prajñāpāramitā. To recognize the Prajñāpāramitā, first pay homage to 'the Śrāvakas who seek peace,' etc. The Prajñāpāramitā gave birth to the four noble sons, therefore she is the mother, so pay homage to the mother. Its characteristics are: the Prajñāpāramitā possessing the three wisdoms. The divisions are: the mother of Śrāvakas and Pratyekabuddhas, the mother of Bodhisattvas, and the mother of Buddhas. These are, in order, the complete knowledge of all... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
