It is not other, not their essence. It does not depend on it like fruit and eye disease. Since it does not abide in things, holding it in this way is completely inverted.’ The Teacher thus proves that the 'self' of innate ego-grasping, which is taken as the basis of karma and its results in conventional terms, does not exist. Secondly, the function of wisdom is to practice it, and through practice, when a Bodhisattva is in meditative equipoise, the mind cannot express it, and the truth of all things cannot be fully seen. 'Thus, one obtains the forbearance of certain understanding of the Dharma.' Then, 'In order to increase the manifestation of the Dharma, one should always exert steadfast effort.' By this cause, one obtains the forbearance of the great Dharma, at that time, 'The manifestation of the Dharma increases, and one abides only in the mind.' Then, 'The manifestation of all things, fully appears in the mind.' At that time, the distraction of grasping at objects ceases, and then, only the clinging to objects remains.’ After that, the aspects of the grasped and the grasper subside, and wisdom abides in its own nature, self-knowing, and self-luminous, therefore, 'At that time, one quickly attains the uninterrupted Samadhi.' This is the Madhyamaka that refutes other-emptiness. After that, by entering into the clear light, all actions and afflictions are exhausted, and even self-awareness does not appear. The 'self-awareness' here is 'consciousness'. The latter is 'wisdom' that transcends 'consciousness', which is where the beautiful name is given. As Maitreya asked in the Lankavatara Sutra: 'What is clear light, is the nature of mind. What is the nature of mind, is entry. What is entry, is suppressing all characteristics. What is suppressing all characteristics, is entering into the faultless.' The Bodhisattva who enters into the faultless is the forbearance of non-origination, therefore, the Bodhisattva who enters into the faultless is called the one who has obtained the forbearance of non-origination. 'The Bodhisattva who has obtained forbearance can endure all. He can endure emptiness, and he can also endure sentient beings. Why is this? Because sentient beings and emptiness are not other, sentient beings are emptiness.' And so on, 'Good son, the Bodhisattva who has thus obtained the forbearance of non-origination is non-contradictory, that is, he is non-contradictory with all dharmas.' Thus it is said. This is as stated in the Lankavatara Sutra: 'Relying on mind-only, one does not discriminate external objects. Abiding in Suchness, one should also transcend mind-only. After transcending mind-only, manifestation...'

Abiding in non-existence. The yogi abiding in non-existence, He will see the Great Vehicle. As it is said, understanding with wisdom that there is nothing other than the mind, Then also realizing the nature of the mind itself as emptiness. With wisdom, knowing that both are non-existent, Without wisdom, abiding in the realm of Dharma. Secondly, regarding compassion that clings to conventional truth, there are general explanations and specific meanings. First, the general explanation: The 《Perfection of Wisdom Sutra》 says: 'With a mind endowed with all aspects of knowledge, practicing the six perfections, one quickly realizes complete and perfect enlightenment.' The method is the Bodhicitta that does not abandon sentient beings. This is included in the six perfections: generosity, discipline, and patience are for the benefit of others; diligence, meditation, and wisdom are for the benefit of oneself. Diligently working for the benefit of sentient beings is generosity, non-harming, and patience. Abiding and liberation are based on this, and all actions are for one's own benefit.' The first three are higher discipline, the fifth is higher mind, and the latter is higher wisdom. Diligence is the friend of all virtues. By mastering the three trainings, the Buddhas have taught the six perfections. The first three, the last two, each have two qualities, and one includes all three.' The first four accomplish higher realms, and the last two accomplish definite goodness. Obtaining enjoyment and a perfect body, as well as a pure and perfect retinue, is higher birth. No longer being controlled by afflictions, and all actions being in accordance with reality, is also higher birth. Generosity gives rise to discipline, etc., which is the order of arising, as well as inferior and superior. Generosity is easy to practice and easy to understand its nature, so it is taught first. These are arranged in this order because of grossness and subtlety. The latter arises dependent on the former, because it abides in inferior and superior, and because of gross and subtle, these are the reasons for teaching the order. The activity of this method is: all actions of body, speech, and mind are for the sake of sentient beings, whether directly or indirectly. Among these, there are two stages: focusing on sentient beings and not focusing on sentient beings. First, for a beginner Bodhisattva, because of the attachment to 'I', they are called 'sentient beings', and therefore compassion arises for suffering sentient beings. From compassion, one learns generosity and other actions. Through familiarizing oneself with this, the so-called 'sentient beings' do not exist from the beginning, but are established later. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
