Moreover, worms, rotten things, decaying bodies, and flesh-eaters in the dust speak with me, invite me to come, each rejoicing, and always abide with me. Before I had attained these, I cultivated these three perceptions of impermanence: the perception of impermanence based on meditation, the perception of suffering in impermanence, the perception of no-self in suffering, and the aversion perception that cuts off craving for the taste of food, the perception of extreme displeasure with all things in the world, the perception of observing faults and completely transforming them, the perception of abandoning to stop afflictions and near afflictions, the perception of detachment from desire, the perception of cessation, the perception of death, the perception of impurity, the perception of decomposition, the perception of scattering, the perception of a swollen and festering body, the perception of being eaten by worms, the perception of being eaten by birds and beasts, the perception of being smeared with blood, the perception of limbs being scattered, and the perception of bones such as skeletons, and I obtained the perception of separately contemplating emptiness. Before I had attained these, I attained the first dhyana, the second dhyana, the third dhyana, the fourth dhyana, loving-kindness, compassion, joy, equanimity, the sphere of infinite space, the sphere of infinite consciousness, the sphere of nothingness, the sphere of neither perception nor non-perception, the fruit of stream-entry, the fruit of once-returning, the fruit of non-returning, the fruit of Arhatship, the realm of magical powers, divine hearing, knowledge of others' minds, knowledge of past lives, knowledge of death and rebirth, and the exhaustion of outflows. I am an Arhat, liberated in the eight liberations, liberated from the afflictive obscurations and the cognitive obscurations through both meditation and wisdom. If a bhikshu does this, he immediately ceases to be a bhikshu, ceases to be a shramana, ceases to be a son of the Shakya, and will lose the status of a bhikshu, and his practice as a shramana will be destroyed, lost, ruined, fallen, defeated, and his practice as a shramana will be irretrievable.
