The name of Bhikshu (དགེ་སློང་,梵文:bhikṣu,梵文天城体:भिक्षु,梵文罗马拟音:bhikṣu,meaning: beggar). Because the translator added the word 'དགེ' (good) for the sake of rhyme, the Sanskrit word 'bhikṣu' was translated into 'དགེ་སློང་' (Bhikshu). Later, the words 'བྷི་དྷ་' (various) and 'ཀྵ་' (exhausted) were added, meaning that the seven impurities of body and speech are completely exhausted, Doing good and begging for food, 'bhikṣu' is translated as 'བི་བི་', 'ད་ཀྐ་ཧ་དྱ་' is translated as 'བྷི་དྷ་ར་' (residence), and 'ཥ་' is translated as 'ཤ་མ་' (peaceful), meaning residing in peace, entering a good path, being good at begging, abandoning attachment to all utensils, and because it is very satisfying, it becomes the true meaning of Bhikshu. If there was a feeling before, then residing in the path will not become impure. What are the four? Furthermore, you should also partake and be moderate. Do you pledge to abide by such a dwelling? He should say, 'I pledge.' 'So-and-so,' listen. Among dwellings, even finding a tree root is acceptable and easy. Residing there, for a monk who has gone forth and been fully ordained, it becomes an essential possession of a monk who well speaks the Dharma. 'So-and-so,' are you willing to live on tree-root dwellings for as long as you live? He should say, 'I am willing.' If something better is found, such as a house, a small house, a multi-storied house, a cool room, a place enclosed by thin walls, a balcony, a mansion, a cool room above a gatehouse, a curtained room on a roof, a grass-covered house, an earth cave, a rock cave, a mountain cave, a grass hut, a leaf hut, a place used for walking, a place not used for walking, a place used as a bird shelter, a place not used as a bird shelter, or any other suitable dwelling, if it is obtained from the Sangha or an individual, you should also partake and be moderate. Do you pledge to abide by such a dwelling? He should say, 'I pledge.' 'So-and-so,' listen. Among medicines, discarded offerings are also easy to find and acceptable. Do you pledge to abide by such a medicine? He should say, 'I pledge.' These are the statements about dwellings. Next, the teachings that lead to downfall will be stated. 'So-and-so,' listen. These four are the teachings spoken by the Blessed One, the Thus-Gone One, the Arhat, the Perfectly Awakened One, who knows and sees, as the root teachings that lead to the downfall of a monk who has gone forth and been fully ordained. If a monk commits these, he immediately becomes unfit to be a monk, unfit to be a renunciant. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
