Sticking out the tongue, separating food, mocking, puffing out the cheeks, smacking the lips, biting off food, licking the hand, overturning the bowl, shaking the hand, shaking the bowl, rolling it up like a stupa and eating, these are twenty-one faults of eating. Looking at another's bowl for the purpose of pouring food, holding a water vessel with a hand stained with food, sprinkling water stained with food on other monks, pouring water stained with food into a house without asking the householder, pouring leftover food into the bowl and discarding it, placing the bowl in a place without a base, placing it near a garbage heap, a cliff, or a steep slope, washing it while holding it up, washing it near a garbage heap, a cliff, a steep slope, or a strong current of water, these are fourteen faults concerning the bowl. Preaching the Dharma while standing when the listener is sitting, preaching while sitting when the listener is lying down, preaching while sitting in a low place when the listener is sitting in a high place, preaching while sitting poorly when the listener is sitting well, Coming from behind when the listener is walking forward, preaching while walking on the edge of the road when walking in the middle of the road, preaching with the head covered, wrapped, tilted, or with the neck and back crossed, preaching to those wearing hats, headdresses, garlands, wrapped in cloth, or wearing ornaments, preaching to those riding elephants, horses, vehicles, wearing shoes, holding umbrellas, sticks, bows and arrows, swords, battle axes, or wearing armor, these are twenty-six faults of teaching the Dharma. It is not allowed to urinate or defecate while standing without being sick. Similarly, in water, in places with green grass, these are three ways of practicing. It is not allowed to climb higher than a tree unless there is harm. These are all to be avoided. Furthermore, the faults from Parajika to Sekhiya, all belong to their respective categories, and are called serious faults that violate the precepts. Although they are misdeeds, they must be restrained with the mind. These are misdeeds that can be confessed, so there is a difference. For a novice monk, there are ten avoidances: avoiding harm to life and enjoyment, avoiding greed and deceiving by reversing perception, Avoiding places of negligence, avoiding agitation and arrogance, avoiding strong attachment, avoiding meaningless food and utensils, divided into ten: not killing, not stealing, not engaging in impure conduct, not lying, not drinking alcohol, not singing and dancing, etc., not wearing garlands, etc., not sitting on a large bed, not sitting on a high bed. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I, taking afternoon food and precious things such as money, which are known as the ten gross precepts. Although each has many forms, because most people think they are difficult to keep, they are summarized into ten in order to dispel this thought. The basic offense-like misdeeds, which are divided into those with concealment and those without concealment, are the same as those of a bhikshu, unrecoverable and recoverable. However, the reason for considering them as misdeeds is to show the difference between Upāli (近护) having received full ordination and not having received it. As stated in the *Moon Treasury Sutra*: 'Because it is the end of discipline.' Nowadays, many people do not understand the Vinaya (戒律) but give full ordination to others. If someone has previously taken the śrāmaṇera (沙弥) vows, it would be better to take them again now. Some say that taking them again will make the vows pure. Even a basic offense without concealment, after restoration, is the same as a bhikshu's. Others are similar to basic offenses with concealment, so it is not mentioned in the scriptures that full ordination is permissible. Those two that are not can become pure through confession. The remaining ones are branch misdeeds that need to be confessed. Those that are consistent with what has been taken are misdeeds to be restrained. 'Taken' refers to those ten. Those that are consistent with it are all those that are said in the bhikshu's precepts, except for the thirteen that are said to be without offense. For these ten abandonments, the śrāmaṇera's vows, and the robes and other items that were obtained by promising to observe them at the time of becoming a novice, are called the śrāmaṇera's conduct. For a layperson, killing, stealing, sexual misconduct, and lying are the four root precepts, and drinking alcohol is a branch precept. For the eight precepts, there are the branch of discipline, the branch of mindfulness, and the branch of conduct. The first four are naturally unwholesome because they abandon unwholesome actions. Abandoning drinking intoxicants is the second. Abandoning incense, applying colors, wearing garlands, abandoning large and high beds, and abandoning untimely food are the third. Therefore, there are eight branches. Because it nourishes the wholesome mind, it is called fasting. As stated in the sutra: 'The Blessed One taught fasting, which increases wholesome qualities.' Therefore, it is consistent with the explanation of fasting, so it is fasting. Upavāsa (近住) means staying somewhat close to Nirvana. The practice of training is the way to fully train in the training. It should be understood that there are two causes for dwelling in happiness. The first is: in order to make the discipline completely pure, it is the basis of observing the fast; in order to make the discipline completely pure, it is the basis of the summer retreat; in order to make the Dharma completely pure --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
