'Prescribed', 'Subsequently Prescribed', 'Allowed', 'Prohibited' need to be understood. What happened was that the monk Sudinna engaged in unchaste conduct, and based on this, the first precept to abandon unchaste conduct was established, like this to understand the origin of the matter. 'Prescribed' means that based on this, any monk who, together with the monks, without abandoning the precepts, without violating the precepts, if he teaches the Dharma related to sexual intercourse, then that monk will be defeated and cannot abide. Like this is 'Prescribed'. 'Subsequently Prescribed' means, After making the prescription, a monk entered the dwelling of a nun, therefore, it was added again that even with a being born in the animal realm is acceptable, like this is a supplementary prohibition. 'Allowed' means that for an elderly monk like the monk Udayin, the allowance of robes was made, thereby relaxing the precepts of separation. 'Prohibited' means that based on the Arhat Sাগত, all kinds of alcohol were prohibited. In short, all prohibited precepts are 'Prohibited', and all precepts that need to be practiced are 'Allowed'. For 'Subsequently Prescribed', after prohibiting, prohibiting is prescribed again, after allowing, allowing is prescribed again, after practicing, practicing is prescribed again, this is not abandoning the category of prescription. After prohibiting, allowing or practicing is prescribed, these two situations also apply, therefore, abandoning the category of prescription has six types, there are nine situations in total. All prohibited prescriptions are inherently immoral, or aspects related to this, are prescriptions and mere prescriptions. The meaning of mere is that neither the immoral part nor the whole is. Therefore, the seven abandonments of the seven abandonments are also not prescriptions. The opposite of this are the five categories of downfall, namely: the category of defeat, the category of Sanghavasesa, the category of downfall, the category of confession, the category of wrongdoings. 'Defeat' means being defeated by the opponent, like a dam being washed away by water. 'Defeated' refers to a common defeat, including concealment. For example, a part of the dam is washed away by water, this is a common defeat, not including concealment. Therefore, these two downfalls are called 'without remainder' and 'with remainder'. That is, engaging in unchaste conduct, taking what is not given, killing, falsely claiming to have superior qualities are the four. 'Sanghavasesa' means that after a downfall occurs, it is necessary to rely on the Sangha to recover, and even after receiving punishment, there are still traces of the downfall, therefore it is called 'remainder', and now mere confession is not enough. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It can be purified by confession. If someone says 'there is still a remainder of the precepts', this is permissible for the Sautrantika school and others, but here, it contradicts the statement that one does not abandon the precepts merely by committing a defeat (pārājika). These offenses are thirteen: emission of semen, physical contact, speaking of sexual intercourse, 6-449 flattery and praise, acting as an intermediary, houses, large houses, unfounded accusations, minor accusations, causing division in the Sangha, siding with the dividers, ruining families, causing displeasure. The last six, after three admonitions, if not practiced properly, will result in an offense. These are called 'admonition-transformed offenses'. In the Prātimokṣa Sūtra, 'indefinite, secluded place, with protection', refers to being with a woman in a secluded place, without protection, without other companions. If there is doubt about committing a pārājika or a saṃghāvaśeṣa, it is an indefinite offense. Its meaning is not other offenses besides pārājika or saṃghāvaśeṣa. Thus, pārājika and saṃghāvaśeṣa have two types of gross offenses and offenses of wrong-doing. Gross offenses are further divided into those arising from action, minor, heavy, and very heavy. Here, it is wrong to think that the 'gross' of the word of merit and the 'gross' that becomes a name, the former also indicates the essence of pārājika and saṃghāvaśeṣa. The word of merit means accumulating many offenses, so it is called 'gross'. For example, if a small tribe increases some subjects, it is said 'now it has become large'. 6-450 Becoming a name means inferior to the essence of pārājika and saṃghāvaśeṣa. Inferior means that relative to the saṃghāvaśeṣa of pārājika, it is smaller. For example, asking how a small tribe compares to a large tribal chief, the answer is: 'Relative to itself, it is large, but compared to that, it is still small.' The third is the offense of downfall, using it also causes one to fall into the lower realms. There are also two types of offenses of downfall: expiatory offenses and simple offenses. The former is called expiatory because it must be abandoned before confession. The meaning of abandoning beforehand is: if one commits an offense of holding robes, then the robe from which it arose, and other robes of the same kind, and different bowls and water filters, etc., must be abandoned, and then confession can be purified. Otherwise, it is said that it cannot be purified. These are thirty: holding, separating, placing, causing to wash, taking, begging, begging lawfully, measuring begging, each, sending, silk, pure black wool, mixing two kinds of wool, holding for six years, a span, on the road --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
