If it hasn't happened, then the aspiration has already been discussed earlier. In the 'Bodhisattva Grounds,' 'entering' refers to accepting the Bodhisattva's training, which includes all the Bodhisattva precepts: the precepts of discipline, the precepts of gathering virtuous dharmas, and the precepts of benefiting sentient beings. What past Bodhisattvas have learned, what future Bodhisattvas will learn, and what all present Bodhisattvas in the ten directions are learning, I will take. And as it is said in 'Entering the Bodhisattva's Way': 'As all the Sugatas of the past, first generated the thought of enlightenment, and then sequentially dwelt in the Bodhisattva's trainings, likewise, for the benefit of beings, I will generate the thought of enlightenment, and likewise, I will sequentially train in the trainings.' There is no difference in meaning between these two passages, although there may be slight differences in certain circumstances, in accordance with the 'Bodhisattva Grounds' and Atisha's ritual. In this ritual, the aspiration is taken first, followed by the more detailed ritual of accepting entry. Furthermore, the way in which Manjushri, the king who became space, generated the thought, as described in the 'Compendium of Trainings' and 'Entering the Bodhisattva's Way,' and cited therein, is different. Representing this, there are extremely many kinds of rituals for generating the thought of enlightenment. Also, in both of these systems, if the aspiration was not present before, then these two thoughts can arise simultaneously. As it says in the 'Bodhisattva Grounds': 'Aspiration and entry are combined.' That is, as soon as a Bodhisattva generates that thought, they enter the unsurpassed Great Vehicle of enlightenment. For example, through expression and terminology, one can also be counted as a Bodhisattva. Therefore, generating the thought includes entering. This also shows that as soon as the aspiration thought arises, one enters the path of the Great Vehicle. If one first takes the aspiration and then takes entry, then that aspiration belongs to entry. No matter how these two generated thoughts of enlightenment are taken, they arise as appearing in a special object of mind that possesses the same consciousness, therefore it is said: 'A mind arises possessing two meanings.' This does not mean that they are mental factors. Therefore, if it is said that Vasubandhu considers the thought of enlightenment to be a mental factor, then examining his commentary on the 'Ornament of the Sutras' will lead to a clear understanding. That mind, until one obtains the ground, is connected to the six doors of defilement, and therefore is defiled; from obtaining the ground onwards, because it has abandoned these connections, it is undefiled.

The 'Perfection of Discipline' (pāramitā) refers to the flawless discipline, or the discipline that pleases the noble ones. When one attains Buddhahood, all phenomena become extremely pure, and if measured by our minds, it becomes the aggregate of discipline of that stage. Even the initial bodhicitta cannot fully reach it, nor can the final bodhicitta fully reach it. Considering this way, it is incorrect to say that the attainment and abandonment of the Bodhisattva vows are related to Buddhahood, and it is also inappropriate to say that there exists a state like the Bodhisattva stage, so we acknowledge the existence of a state of 'abiding transformation'. Merely establishing it as flawless does not make it the ultimate bodhicitta. The ultimate bodhicitta is the samadhi wisdom of that stage. This (referring to the bodhicitta of ordinary beings) is the subsequent attainment, accompanied by the defilements of the obscuration of knowledge. Even when the subsequent attainment ceases in the state of Buddhahood, it still functions like creating the two bodies. Furthermore, the bodhicitta of the Mind-Only School (Cittamātra) is common in Tibet, but it is not suitable for just anyone. 'If you want to plant the seed of Buddhahood in all sentient beings, then follow the flawless treatises of the Madhyamaka School.' This statement is also incorrect. It seems to assume that the basis of the Mind-Only School requires the Prātimokṣa vows, while the basis of the Madhyamaka School does not. However, for those with the Mahāyāna lineage, merely taking refuge can generate the Prātimokṣa vows. This is also included in the commentary on the Bodhisattva-piṭaka, 'Clouds Like the Ocean'. For those whose lineage is temporarily uncertain as Śrāvakas, Pratyekabuddhas, or those with wrong views, even if they have not been tamed, the Madhyamaka School will not accept them as vessels of the Mahāyāna. Even if one performs the flawless bodhicitta ritual of the Madhyamaka School for them, bodhicitta will not arise, and it will instead become a cause for those beings to degenerate. As it is said: 'To the extent that the Buddha teaches patience to sentient beings, the degenerate will never be vessels of the Dharma.' Candrakīrti said: 'Although all vows have faults, those who wish to attain Buddhahood can accomplish it through refuge, just as those who wish to receive the bhikṣu vows need to follow the rules.' The bodhicitta of the Madhyamaka School can arise in anyone, whether they have sins or not. It is not appropriate for those who are completely entangled in sins to generate bodhicitta, just as light cannot exist when darkness manifests. If it is said that this is because they have the capacity or seed, then for such people, the bodhicitta of the Mind-Only School should also be able to arise. If it cannot arise, then please provide arguments to prove that their bodhicitta can only arise in noble beings. Furthermore, for the Śrāvaka lineage... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
