Then, it was proclaimed that no one of low birth would be allowed to enter. At that time, some of those who were the main deities of the mandala rose from their seats, respectfully approached the great Vajra Master, stood cautiously, and with palms joined, said: 'O Secret Lord, in this great, most secret mandala, it is appropriate to first allow the ordained to enter and grant them empowerment.' Then, it was permitted for those of the Kshatriya caste, the Brahmin caste, the mantra-practitioner caste, and some wealthy patrons of the merchant caste to enter and receive empowerment, as is fitting for their caste. As for those of the Vaishya caste and the Chandalas, let alone granting them empowerment, it is not appropriate to even allow them to enter this great mandala.' Thus they requested. The master thought, 'If I were to do as King Zasang did in the past when he blessed the Kalachakra, all the people in this place would awaken to the Mahayana lineage and become mantra yogis united by a single vow.' But he felt that some circumstances were unfavorable, and although displeased, he agreed to the request of the petitioners. On the first day, he made preparations, and on the second day, the Vajra Master donned the attire of a Chakravartin (universal monarch) and first granted complete empowerment to some of the ordained and those of the Kshatriya caste, etc. For those of the Vaishya and Chandala castes, he merely established a connection by allowing them to see the colors of the great mandala, and thus the activities of the mandala were completed. At that time, from the minor gods of the sky down to the Nagas (serpents) beneath the earth, inconceivable miracles of a terrifying nature appeared, just as they had appeared to the Buddha under the Bodhi tree and to the great Jetsun (Milarepa) in the Manlung River. These miracles were shown in dreams and experiences. At that time, not even a single pore of that great being was shaken. The lords of the desire realm, resting their hands on their cheeks, were plunged into a chamber of sorrow. Their consorts asked, 'Friends, what is wrong?' They replied, 'In the past there was the son of King Shuddhodana (Sakyamuni Buddha), the lord of yoga Hasyavajra (Laughing Vajra), and now there is this one (referring to the Vajra Master performing the empowerment); there is no one else who is so difficult to defeat. Therefore, we are unhappy.' Those cunning women comforted them, saying, 'We should find a way, do not be sad.' They took up the five arrows: the arrow of pride, the arrow of delusion, the arrow of complete delusion, the arrow of fainting, and the arrow of mindlessness, and shot them from a direction that was neither too far nor too near. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
