The disciples sent messengers, requesting (the master) to come, and when (the master) showed intention to depart, (the master) said: 'If I die in Ü (Central Tibet), the people of Ü will be pleased; if I die in Tsang (Western Tibet), the people of Tsang will carry a thin and long corpse to Ü, which is inevitable.' 'You must now diligently practice Dharma and instructions! If you need scriptures, write them down now. It will be difficult to be satisfied with friends' poverty later.' (The master) said many such sad words, and then, together with hundreds of disciples, set off towards the direction of Upper Tsang. On the way, they went from Rongchung to the central region of Tsang, and then went up. The master said: 'This time coming this way is only this time.' and so on, also said many words about not staying long. In the central region of Tsang, (the master) went to meet the great Kashmiri Pandit Shakya Shri, served and respected him, offered many offerings, and also had Dharma exchanges and discussions of scriptures, (Shakya Shri) showed a very happy appearance. After that, when (the master) arrived at Ralung Monastery, the people of Nyangtö (Upper Nyang) gathered together, made offerings and great hospitality, satisfying all the new and old schools both materially and spiritually. At that time, (the master) admonished the disciples: 'In order to prevent the great cause of yourselves and others from declining, and to accumulate merit for future generations, build eight stupas!' After listening to (the master)'s teachings, tens of thousands of people built together, and nine stupas were completed and reported to (the master) on that day, the master said: 'Tomorrow you must also work hard and build as many as possible!' After that, just before dawn, everyone gathered together, worked hard all day, but only built three stupas. So they reported to (the master): 'Strange! Yesterday we were able to build nine stupas, today there seem to be even more people than yesterday, and we worked very hard, but only built three, how did this happen?' The master said: 'Among the eighty-four great accomplished ones of India, nine have manifested here with the name of Lion, they will uphold and propagate the teachings of the practice lineage. After that, no matter how hard you try, you can only build three, because after that, incarnations of the Three Protectors (Avalokiteśvara, Mañjuśrī, Vajrapāṇi) will appear and greatly benefit sentient beings, and all the causes for this arise from this. After that, there will come a time when I myself must arrive.' --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

'Will reside'. It was also prophesied that the noble, incomparable Victor would come. At that time, in the region of Lhodrak Dolbuchung, the power of diligent practice awakened, rich with the fruits of the two accumulations. A sprout of the Victor, blessed and empowered by the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, practicing the conduct of a Bodhisattva, peaceful and gentle, appearing dignified and skilled in speech, deluding beings with youthful play, free from childish habits, and always adorned with unhurried conduct. When he was playing and enjoying himself with his own attendants, five emanation singers appeared, singing with melodious voices: 'The Dharma Lord of Ralung, Gyare, has happiness in both this life and the next.' Upon hearing these words, the hairs of faith stood on end, and tears flowed with grief, so he went to his father and discussed going forth into the Dharma, and then came to the Guru's presence and shaved his head. He was given the name Gonpo Dorje (Protector Vajra). He listened to the empowerment of glorious Chakrasamvara, Mahamudra, and the Six Dharmas of Naropa, and followed them. That spring he stayed in Ro, and then when he stayed in the secluded place of Pospuk, he became ill. The disciples requested to perform rituals for the Guru's health, but the Guru said: 'For a yogi who is equal to pleasure and pain, what is the use of artificial rituals other than to accept whatever arises?' So he did not allow it. Not long after, the illness was cured, so he wrote down the Mahamudra and the subtle marks. Then he built a monastery in Ralung. The disciples made a life-size statue of the Guru, which the Guru himself consecrated, and because of its great power of blessing, it was known as 'The Statue that Subdues the Three Realms'. In secluded places such as Karo, he would occasionally reside for a while. There are also many sayings in the previous biographies about not staying for long. Then he went to the monastery and, in the midst of many teachings, repeatedly said: 'You, now while the Guru is still alive, be diligent in practicing the Dharma!' Especially when doing the blessing of the Jomo (female practitioner), he said to all the assembled Sangha disciples and patrons, both male and female: 'You are all fulfilled, be joyful! And do not forget me, that will be enough.' --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
