It is said that Namkhai Bya's meditation was known throughout the kingdom. He also taught the previously unrevealed Lama practice, as well as instructions for development and practice. At that time, the yogi Jo Ye returned from Dokham and offered a vast amount of gold, silver, and horses, headed by a silver statue of Avalokiteśvara At that time, in a particular place in the southern Yorpo region, called Gung Drakchenpa, Je Lorepa invited his master, disciples, and sangha, and offered hospitality. He prepared to depart with three myriads of bhikshu sangha, carrying robes and begging bowls. The hosts of worldly protectors (Jigten Kyongwai Wangpo) also followed, protected, and concealed him. The musicians and dancers also surrounded him, making offerings. He captivated the minds of all beings in every place he passed, some making prayers and aspirations, some confessing their faults, some experiencing an ocean of realization merely by seeing his face, some making offerings, some following in his footsteps, and some following behind. All of them were leading him to the supreme place, and eventually they arrived at Galawa. As soon as he arrived, he was greeted by a host of goldsmiths. He was invited to sit on a throne adorned with various jewels, the great protector of the three realms. After the sangha was seated, they prepared abundant food and pleased him with many umbrellas. He, headed by the holy objects of body, speech, and mind, offered gold, pearls, turquoise, coral, and other jewels, as well as silks, garments, horses, elephants, and countless precious medicines. In short, they offered everything imaginable, in quantities that were astonishing. Then, together with the assembled gathering, he went to the monastery called Druk. He made great offerings of material possessions to countless beings, utterly destroying the roots of poverty, and lived in the bliss of enjoyment. In whatever place he went, his wealth was inexhaustible. However, his disciples focused on renouncing worldly attachments, practicing with a life-renouncing attitude, and cultivating devotion to the profound lama. As a result, about fifty-five thousand of them generated genuine realization of the nature of reality, and many others also generated realization. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To those secluded practitioners who had attained realization, when Jetsun Milarepa was forty-seven years old, he bestowed the following teachings: 'Abandon worldly thoughts and make practice the essence. Life is fleeting, meditate diligently, and single-mindedly cultivate samadhi. Completely sever attachment and wander through unobstructed, solitary places. Because devotion to the guru is the root of the path, pray to the guru.' 'Integrate the essence of practice into the channels, energies, and bindus. With the foundation of the teachings being the signs of ordination, make practice the essence.' He gave many such instructions, saying, 'In the twenty-four sacred places and thirty-two holy sites, such as Oḍiyāṇa, Naipal, Jālandhara, Vajrāsana, Kaśmīra, Gṛdhrakūṭaparvata, Mahācīna pañcagirti, Caritra, Tise, Śambhala, the banks of the Sitā River, and Kailāśa, devote yourselves solely to practice.' Then, he dispersed countless disciples to those various places, and he himself sat on a single cushion without moving for a year. Later, many new disciples gathered, and some old disciples returned. He bestowed upon them the paths of maturation and liberation, and thus many attained liberation. At that time, Jetsun said, 'I have been observing whether benefiting beings would be accomplished, and it seems it will be. I observed whether meditation or benefiting beings was more important, and it seems benefiting beings was more important, so I have been benefiting beings. There may not be time later. Do not become distracted by listening and other such things.' The gurus often say that Dharma without meditation cannot satisfy. Sometimes they also copy scriptures and request instructions. Because one does not know when one will die, one must strive in practice.' Again, one day, Jetsun said, 'Those who have not completed meditation should cultivate diligence and meditate. The descendants of Milarepa should not be concerned with pleasure and pain, but should attain Buddhahood through meditation.' Having said this, he went into strict retreat. There, the monks had many visions. Some saw Cakrasamvara's body with a thousand eyes, some saw Tara, some saw Vajradhara, some saw Bhairava, some saw Mahākaruṇā, and some saw his body manifest in three forms or many forms. Wherever they went, they saw Jetsun himself in retreat, or teaching Dharma outside, and so on, delighting their minds with miracles. Then, from Ralung came. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
