He delighted the minds of those to be tamed in three ways. At that time, the Geshes (dGe bshes, spiritual mentors) of Nyetang Dewachen (sNye thang bDe ba can, place name) were jealous and argued, thinking that he should be expelled to another place. So, they sent a monk who was skilled in grammar and held the Tripitaka, along with some attendants. That person also pretended to be respectful and went to see him. Then, when they debated with perfect scripture and reasoning, that person was defeated and felt ashamed. Afterwards, when he saw the master's treatises, he developed great faith and prostrated to him. He heard many teachings and instructions, attained common and supreme accomplishments, and made great contributions to the Buddhist teachings, becoming known as Kyangmo Khapa (rKyang mo kha pa, person's name). In the autumn of that year, he taught the essential instructions that had not previously been known in Tibet, such as the 'Six Tastes of Equanimity' (ro snyoms skor drug) and the 'Seven Interdependent Originations' (rten 'brel rabs bdun ma), and also practiced transference of consciousness. In the winter of that year, he put many monks into retreat, establishing a great tradition of practice. Many who practiced the 'Tastes of Equanimity' filled the mountains, raising the victory banner of the essential teachings. Later, the disciple Jo Tsul (Jo tshul, person's name) and his two elder brothers requested him to go to Ralung Monastery (Ra lung, monastery name), and he gave away all the offerings he received, and then went to Ralung Monastery. The son of his elder brother Lha Nyan (Lha gnyan, person's name), a great Bodhisattva who resided on the tenth Bhumi, was ordained and given the name Darma Senge (Dar ma seng ge, person's name). He was known for his learning and wisdom born of meditation, and later became the abbot, known as Sangye Wonre (Sangs rgyas dbon ras, person's name). Chöwang (Chos dbang, person's name) fulfilled all the hopes of beings with many teachings. At that time, although he was afflicted by a severe illness, he still sang the songs of Shuanana (Shu a na na, place name) with great confidence in the path. He stayed there for a long time, and then went to Lhakhap (Lha khab, place name), quickly completing all the instructions of the new tradition, and felt very happy in his heart. Because there was no one else in Tophi (Tho phyi, place name), only wild animals freely playing, the master thought, 'These animals are also so happy'. So, he sang a long song of joy for men and women to the subjects. Later, his disciple, the great scholar and accomplished Gyayagpa (brGya yags pa, person's name), invited him to Drala (Grwa la, place name). There, one hundred and eight ordained monks offered all their necessities and requested... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Then, he went to Dol. At that time, he composed many oral instruction songs for the numerous disciples. Afterwards, he bestowed many important teachings such as 'Equal Taste' (ro snyoms) and the 'Six Dharmas' (chos drug) to the assembled sangha. Rinpoche thought in his heart: 'Rather than fostering a large and noisy monastic community, it would be better to engage in steadfast prayer in a secluded mountain retreat, practicing the 'Four Sessions' (ma nam bzhi skor), as this would be of greater benefit to beings. May the wishes of the Lama Rinpoche be fulfilled in this way. I also think that this would be beneficial to the Buddha's teachings,' and thus he felt great sadness. In particular, he saw the auspicious connection for the teachings of the practice lineage to spread in all directions, and so he composed oral instruction songs in preparation for dismissing the sangha. At this time, the main disciples together pleaded: 'We do not have time to manage the sangha, and we think that dismissing the sangha is inappropriate. Please, Dharma Lord, compassionately abide as our protector and refuge.' 'We will not dismiss the sangha, but will manage it well.' Rinpoche replied: 'The illusory body is impermanent and will eventually perish. Even those who are learned in the Dharma and eloquent cannot prevent death. For example, everything such as earth, stones, and mountains are impermanent. Nothing can be relied upon. Birth is inevitably followed by death. Therefore, one must practice the true 'Dharma of Death' ('chi chos gshaa' ma). So, I too will go to practice in the Tsang Ra Lung area. You should also take my message and go to practice in various places.' Having said this, he composed the 'Song of Parting Messenger for Practice'. However, the sangha earnestly requested him to stay for a few years, so Rinpoche said: 'This time I must go to practice. If I cannot gain benefit from practice, I will not return empty-handed. This time I will act like a vagabond and go everywhere.' Having said this, he composed a song. Then, in his forty-first year, the Iron Female Bird year, he, along with yogis, the monastic community of monks, realized the suchness of mind, and with no fewer than a hundred hundreds of dakinis who had attained accomplishment, as well as the twenty-four sacred sites, Shambhala, Mount Wutai in China, Mount Holder of the Boat, Mount Kailash, Fragrant Intoxication Mountain, the Thirty-Three Heavens, Non-Auditory, Superior Body, Cowherd Mountain, and other mountain retreats, as well as borderlands, cemeteries, and so forth, take practice as the essence.' After he had taught and dismissed them, when Jo Yes came to him, he said: 'Now I too will go to the mountains to practice.' --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
