The aggregates (Sanskrit: skandha, skandha, aggregates) are: the six consciousnesses of eye, ear, nose, tongue, body, and mind. Mind, intellect, and consciousness are different names. The realms (Sanskrit: dhātu, dhātu, element) are: six from the eye realm to the mind realm; six from the form realm to the dharma realm; six from the eye consciousness realm to the mind consciousness realm, totaling eighteen. The sources (Sanskrit: āyatana, āyatana, source) are: six internal sources from the eye source to the mind source; six external sources from the form source to the dharma source, totaling twelve. 'Not aggregated in the aggregates, not mentioned because useless in meaning'. Therefore, except for the three unconditioned (Sanskrit: asaṃskṛta, asaṃskṛta, unconditioned) dharmas of the unpolluted (Sanskrit: anāsrava, anāsrava, without outflows), all dharmas are included in the aggregates. Except for the truth of the path (Sanskrit: mārgasatya, mārgasatya, truth of the path), all polluted (Sanskrit: sāsrava, sāsrava, with outflows) dharmas are included in it, also called the aggregates of appropriation (Sanskrit: upādānaskandha, upādānaskandha, aggregates of clinging). Just as the realms and dharmas are universally the same, so are the sources. The ten forms (Sanskrit: rūpa, rūpa, form) of the ten realms and ten sources are successively the same meaning. For example, the eye faculty (Sanskrit: cakṣurindriya, cakṣurindriya, eye faculty), the eye realm, and the eye source are the same meaning. The aggregate of feeling (Sanskrit: vedanāskandha, vedanāskandha, aggregate of feeling), the aggregate of perception (Sanskrit: saṃjñāskandha, saṃjñāskandha, aggregate of perception), the aggregate of formations (Sanskrit: saṃskāraskandha, saṃskāraskandha, aggregate of mental formations), and non-form and the three unconditioned are also the dharma realm and the dharma source. The aggregate of consciousness (Sanskrit: vijñānaskandha, vijñānaskandha, aggregate of consciousness) is the mind source, the mind realm, and the six consciousness realms. Everything is in the desire realm (Sanskrit: kāmadhātu, kāmadhātu, desire realm). In the form realm (Sanskrit: rūpadhātu, rūpadhātu, form realm), there is no smell or taste, so there is no consciousness of them either. In the formless realm (Sanskrit: arūpadhātu, arūpadhātu, formless realm), there are only the mind source and the dharma source, and the mind and the mind consciousness realm. These are considered to be the five bases of knowable objects: the base of form, the base of mind, the base of mental factors, the base of non-associated formations, and the base of the unconditioned. The Sarvāstivāda (Sanskrit: Sarvāstivāda, Sarvāstivāda, the doctrine that all exists) believes that all of these and the three times (past, present, future) are real. They also believe that things have five entities: the self-nature entity, such as 'as it is said, that thing is the self-nature entity of the person (Sanskrit: pudgala, pudgala, person)'. The object entity, such as 'all dharmas should be known as they are'. The associated entity, such as 'the thing that is associated with the latent tendencies (Sanskrit: anuśaya, anuśaya, latent tendencies) or the entanglements (Sanskrit: paryavasthāna, paryavasthāna, manifest defilements) is also associated with the entanglement of anger'. The cause entity, such as 'what are the dharmas associated with things? They are the compounded dharmas'. And the entity to be used, such as 'as it is said, the entity of the field and the entity of the house'. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
