Then, from the Dharmakaya, the Sambhogakaya arose. In the pure and magnificent realm, the mandalas of the five families became manifest. The teacher, Vairochana, appeared as a self-manifestation in the assembly of Buddhas of the four families. The empowerment of the four united intentions was perfectly and spontaneously accomplished. (325) He taught the inconceivable symbolic Dharma with his own essence. Then, from the blessings of the Sambhogakaya father and mother, and from the power of compassion's self-arising, the Nirmanakaya, glorious Vajrasattva, naturally arose. He obtained the empowerment of the primordial perfection of intention and the spontaneously arising instructions of Dharma-nature, becoming the great spontaneously accomplished one. He worked for the benefit of sentient beings in the three realms. In the 'Kunsel' it says: 'I took two bodies that I had not taken before, I saw two realms that I had not seen before, one sound that I had not heard before arose, one word that I had not spoken before was spoken, at that time the wisdom of realization was born.' Thus it is said. The body that had not been taken before is the inner clarity of the Dharmakaya, and the Sambhogakaya is the two bodies. The two realms are the self-manifest realm of the Sambhogakaya and the realm to be tamed by the Nirmanakaya. The sound is the wheel of the six syllables, the self-sound of the Sambhogakaya. The word is the Brahma's sound heard as the self-manifestation of the beings to be tamed. Again, the body is the three Kayas, the realm is the inner spontaneous accomplishment and the outer realm of existence. The sound is the naturally arising letters, the word is self-arising (326) and also applied to self-liberation. All of these are the activities of the three Kayas. In that very text it says: 'Son of the lineage, the essence is Dharmakaya, the nature is Sambhogakaya, compassion is Nirmanakaya. Since all are the basis of arising, abiding without cessation, they are the three Kayas abiding in the basis. The pure cause is the Dharmakaya, the pure result is the two Rupakayas abiding in inner clarity, this is the accomplishment of qualities, and is called the Kaya accomplished in the basis.' Alas! Lord of Secrets! Vairochana is established as the Sambhogakaya because the four families arise from Vairochana, and qualities pervade from Vairochana, being the basis of the four families, or becoming the knowable. The four families also enjoy the completely pure mind of Vairochana, and the maturing male and female Bodhisattvas enjoy with compassion. For example, the four families are the Sambhogakaya. From that, the differences in compassion appear as different Nirmanakaya of male and female Bodhisattvas. Similarly, the three Kayas of the Dharmakaya and the

You should also know these three bodies of the emanation body. The greatness of the body is completely fulfilled, and it appears to the retinues of those to be tamed who are ripened (327), hence it is called the manifestation of the fruit. The wisdom of the mind makes the Dharmakaya clear upwards, and the wisdom of the eye makes the Nirmanakaya clear downwards. In between, the supreme body appears only as clear light, therefore it is established as the Sambhogakaya. The Dharma eye sees without any discrimination, and from the space of the mouth radiates the light of the six syllables. In hundreds of millions of Jambudvipa, Vajrasattva appears in each place, and the six Munis appear in the outer realms of the six realms, which are the three bodies arising from great compassion. Thus it is said. The actual distinctions of these bodies are in that very text. If divided, the Dharmakaya has three: that which is free from conceptualization and unchanging is the Dharmakaya. Consciousness, the body of wisdom, unobstructed wisdom, the five perfectly pure wisdom eyes, are the Sambhogakaya of the Dharmakaya. The five bodies that appear to those to be tamed are the Nirmanakaya of the Dharmakaya. These are also called the great transformation of the three bodies, perfectly pure, and also called abiding in the state of fruition. The Dharmakaya of the Sambhogakaya is the great Vairochana (328). The Sambhogakaya of the Sambhogakaya is the four families. The Nirmanakaya of the Sambhogakaya are the Bodhisattvas and Bodhisattva Mothers. The distinctions of the names for these are also called the time of the manifestation of the fruit, and also called the three bodies perfectly pure, which are the three bodies of the actual Sambhogakaya. The three bodies of the Nirmanakaya are the Dharmakaya of the Buddhas of the four families, the Sambhogakaya of the Bodhisattvas and Bodhisattva Mothers, and the Nirmanakaya of the light of great compassion. Hey! Great Bodhisattva. This is also called the three bodies arising from great compassion, and also called the three bodies exhausted to the limit. These abide in the heart of Vajrasattva, and since the Teacher performs the meaning, it is also called the three bodies that tame beings. Hey! Secret Lord, pay attention. Vajrasattva is the Dharmakaya of the Nirmanakaya. The bodies that arise from the topknot of my head, the pore of the urna, the nostrils, etc., such as Manjushri or Vimalamitra, etc., are the Sambhogakaya of the Nirmanakaya. The six Munis and Garab Dorje, etc., are the Nirmanakaya of the Nirmanakaya. (329) Thus it is said. Therefore, the Teacher's body
