Inversions and the like, wherever they arise, are said to be ignorance itself. So it is said. Third, the time of delusion: When the light of self-display, the essence of the ground, arises, and the light of self-radiance, the image, appears, delusion occurs with the arising of grasping. From that very text: "O Lord of Secrets, the time of delusion is when self-awareness dawns on the object, that is, the time when grasping arises." So it is said. Fourth, there are four causes of delusion: The causal condition is the light of the nature of awareness. The lordly condition is the light of the image arising from itself. The objective condition is the arising of conceptual thought that grasps at an object. Immediately, these three conditions are simultaneous. The light of self-nature is unable to subdue the habitual tendencies towards the light of the image, and thus delusion occurs. Fifth, the actual delusion is the ripening into sentient beings and the ripening into vessel and essence. Due to the habitual tendencies towards the five lights of the image (244), the vessel world, the four continents, Mount Meru, and so on, appear as the realms of the six classes of beings. Due to the arising of grasping at the light-bindu like an egg, there is delusion into a body. The bindus of the five lights, together with the four elements and space, form the habitual tendencies of the five aggregates. This is called egg-born, but it is not a bird's egg. Although it is said to be "strength-son, strength-friend," it does not refer to the two gods who first appeared in the world. The name for the arising of grasping at the light-egg and the manifestation as male and female sentient beings. That is, from the state of awareness, the habitual tendencies towards the arising of light and bindus form the environment and body. Then, the four births and the six realms, and so on, appear as different deluded phenomena. From the All-Illuminating One: "At that time, grasping and grasper, conceptual thought, could not clarify the five lights of self-nature. Due to the habitual tendencies towards the five images, like foam forming on the ocean, or curd forming on yogurt, the four continents, Mount Meru, and the subcontinents, from its essence, the egg of existence, and plants, forests, medicines, and flowers arise. They are born from moisture and warmth (245)." And: "Like wind moving in empty space, the great wind of mind moves everywhere. Through the activity of the eye, the egg of existence is seen. Through the activity of the heart, the egg is well known. Through the activity of the mouth, attachment arises towards it. Awareness, together with mind, abides. It ripens into male and female sentient beings. From the four births, it is egg-born. The aggregates of the five great ones are supported. In it, the five elements are complete."
