Thus and so on. Generally speaking, although liberation occurs at any time, such as in the bardo, it is liberation on the ground. However, in relation to becoming deluded into sentient beings from the ground and then liberating again, although it is also liberating from the ground, it is not liberating without leaving the ground. Therefore, it should be understood that this is different from the way of liberation of Samantabhadra. The unification of the two systems is that on the ground of spontaneous perfection, emptiness and luminosity are inherently present as self-nature and self-radiance. Knowing that the essence of compassion, emptiness, is the Dharmakaya, the self-nature spontaneously perfect is the Sambhogakaya, and the self-essence of compassion manifests as the Nirmanakaya, one becomes enlightened on the ground without moving from self-luminosity. Among them, Samantabhadra is liberated in the essence of original purity without moving from his own place, liberated in the self-nature spontaneously perfect, and liberated in the self-awareness of compassion. Therefore, both appearance and non-appearance return from the distinction, and the essence is one. The three bodies are liberated simultaneously in their own place. Although the previous teachers held different views on these two systems, I believe they are the same. From the perspective of essence, self-nature, and compassion, the essence of non-appearance and emptiness is in the inner space, and the self-nature of luminous clarity manifests as play. These two are in the ground of self-place, luminosity, and self-radiance. The way of manifestation of the compassionate awareness does not hinder samsara and nirvana. Although it appears as faults and virtues in relation to later times, it has never been interrupted in its own time. Knowing one's own nature liberates into virtue. The ground appearance is like camphor, and conditions make it different. The essence will never be cut off at any time. Realizing this principle, one becomes enlightened. Essence and self-nature are the objects to be realized, and compassion manifests as the means to realize. Spontaneous perfection is like a precious jewel, and the fruit abides in its own place. As it is said in the Words of My Perfect Teacher: "In the self-knowing, one and only, samsara and nirvana appear different. Just like camphor, medicine, and poison, medicine and poison appear differently. The great ground of non-duality, although not moving from the state of non-duality, manifests through the power of virtue. Manifesting as many is virtue, and deluded manifestation is described as a fault. When realized, the fault itself is liberated as virtue." Thus it is said. Secondly, the way in which ignorance deludes sentient beings is twofold: generally showing the order of the three kalpas, and specifically explaining the order of the actual way of delusion. The first is that the ground appearance, which is inherently present on the ground of the spontaneously perfect awareness, is the compassion.

Because it has the ability, it shakes itself. When it appears outwardly as radiance and is apprehended, the delusion is counted as three kalpas: The first kalpa is when the basic appearance does not move from the dharmadhatu. The intermediate kalpa is when one's own radiance is clearly manifest outwardly, whether one is deluded or not, and remains for a moment without being liberated. Ignorance is not actually present, but there is only a similar aspect of not knowing one's own nature, which is like the stage of a sprout. Although partial ignorance tends to diminish into the five lights, it is distinguished as immovable vajra wisdom because it is not deluded or generated as a sentient being. It is called having the nature of clarity. Then, when grasping arises and one is deluded as a sentient being, it is called the final kalpa. In all these stages, the basic self-nature was not previously deluded, is not deluded now, and cannot be deluded in the future. The dharmakaya remains stainless and transparent, like the sun without darkness in the three times of past, present, and future. However, the appearance of delusion due to conditions or aspects is like being obscured by clouds, or like a crystal changing temporarily when it encounters any cloth. As it says in the Explanatory Tantra: "Son of lineage, listen well! The unchanging basis is the Bhagavan Great Vajradhara, who is enlightened from the beginning. Therefore, he has never been deluded, is not deluded now, and will never be deluded in the future. It is like the essence of the sun having no basis of darkness, or like a crystal that appears with the power of truth when it encounters any condition, but is not stained by the crystal." The three kalpas are also mentioned in the same text: (238) "Son of lineage, words are taught to illustrate that: First, the basic appearance remains above, the Buddha remains below, and the application of skill between the two is said to be the intermediate kalpa. Because it remains in its own place, it is called immovable. By grasping at what is not that, the five lights diminish and wisdom is empty. It is said to be immovable vajra. Because it cannot be liberated, it is a wanderer. Although the essence is clear and unobstructed, because it cannot actually be clear, it is an unclear nature of clarity. Although it arises from the basis, it is not actual. Either a Buddha or a sentient being remains in between like a sprout. It is called quickly arising. Understand that whatever arises in the tantra I have taught. And, in all the tantras I have taught, the words of the final kalpa are spoken."
