If it disappears from the central channel, it will be seized by the demons of the nagas and kings. If it disappears from the right side of black, it will be seized by demons and female spirits. If it disappears from the left side of red, it will be seized by the Naga Tsen and evil spirits. If it disappears downwards from the blue feet, it will be seized by nagas and sea goddesses. Black ban bun are female spirits and Yama. Yellow breng breng are earth lords. Variegated kyag gyug are seized by dead ghosts. These colors are for identifying any harmful sudden demons when there are deficiencies and changes in shape, and for showing how to protect, repel, and heal. This is to identify naturally occurring innate demons. (409) The second topic is deceiving death, which is divided into three aspects: the outer sequence of relying on interdependent methods, the inner sequence of essence extraction and life accomplishment, and the secret sequence of the meaning of reality. The first aspect includes: the equality of samsara and nirvana, repaying demons with torma offerings, and restoring the life-body with healing methods, these three parts. The first is: five wheels with four spokes and one outer circle, transformed into the colors of the five elements. Write ཡྃ་ (Tibetan, Devanagari yam, Romanized Sanskrit yam, literal Chinese meaning: Yan), རྃ་ (Tibetan, Devanagari ram, Romanized Sanskrit ram, literal Chinese meaning: Rang), ཁྃ་ (Tibetan, Devanagari kham, Romanized Sanskrit kham, literal Chinese meaning: Kang), ལྃ་ (Tibetan, Devanagari lam, Romanized Sanskrit lam, literal Chinese meaning: Lang) and ཨེ་ (Tibetan, Devanagari e, Romanized Sanskrit e, literal Chinese meaning: E) in the center. Write the remaining four letters written in the center on the four spokes. Write vowels on the outer circle. Visualize them as deities of the five elements, and merge in their respective wisdom deities. Make offerings, praises, and pray to avert death. Scatter flowers with their respective letters, year numbers, and the essence mantra of interdependence. After reciting auspicious words, put two porcelain bowls mouth to mouth, and tie them with five-colored threads. Mix wood, water, fire, earth, and the breath of different kinds of sentient beings into tsampa. Make a one-cubit-long (410) human figure, and put the two mouth-to-mouth porcelain bowls tied with colored threads into the heart of the figure. Write five letters on the five bases of the effigy, and make a substitute effigy that matches the year and the colors of the five elements. Around the larger wrathful effigy, mix and place one's own dirt, pieces of clothing, snot, hair, nails, and urine. Insert wool, paint, silk, and various inauspicious bird feathers. In front of these things, place tormas that match the color of the torma, and place arrows equal to the number of years for each torma. Purify with Amrita (Tibetan, Devanagari amṛta, Romanized Sanskrit amrita, literal Chinese meaning: Ambrosia), purify with Svabhava (Tibetan, Devanagari svabhāva, Romanized Sanskrit svabhāva, literal Chinese meaning: Self-nature), transform into desirable qualities with Akaro (Tibetan, Devanagari ākāro, Romanized Sanskrit ākāro, literal Chinese meaning: Space), transform into nectar with Bishomukha (Tibetan, Devanagari viśomukha, Romanized Sanskrit viśomukha, literal Chinese meaning: Universal Face), fulfill all needs with Om Namah Samanta Buddhanam (Tibetan, Devanagari oṃ namaḥ samanta buddhānāṃ, Romanized Sanskrit oṃ namaḥ samanta buddhānāṃ, literal Chinese meaning: Om, Homage to all Buddhas), with Avalokite

Thinking that each is obtained together, think of it as a treasure from which whatever ambrosial substance is desired arises. Then, the dedication is: Thinking of the gods of the elements and the harmful demons, Take it! Take it! Powerful ones! Craving, attachment, and clinging, (411) Remembrance, grasping, thought, and touch, Please release, pacify, and liberate! By reciting this three times, thinking that the ransom has been taken for my sake, redeeming death. Collecting the remains and throwing them into the course of a great river will avert death for three years. Before the signs of death appear, doing this once every three years is most excellent. Appeasing the obstructing spirits with ransom offerings: Repeat this three times, and also, according to the individual rituals for ransom offerings for whatever harms, such as tsen spirits, perform them accordingly. Restoring the life-form with remedial methods: If there is no hand gesture, then perform a hundredfold gathering offering to one's own lama. If there is no right hand, then make a cubit-long ransom offering from the flour of seven kinds of grains, making it with a lion's head with its mouth open. Insert bird feathers corresponding to the age and discard it at a straight crossroads to the north. If there is no left hand, then in a vixen's bladder, put a fierce ransom offering mixed with the blood of a black horse, the blood of a black pig, and the blood of a black dog, along with urine, and throw it into the river. (412) If there is no part below the knee of the right leg, then at dusk, offer sandalwood or juniper mirrors in increasing numbers. If there is no left leg, then in the heart of a cubit-long white earth ransom offering, insert a tiger skin amulet with a single mark written with the age, and discard it at dawn in a mixed temple. If there is no right side of the head, then mix nine kinds of soil from burial grounds and the fruits of black trees. In a black amulet box, put hair and a piece of cloth. On the back, insert a bull amulet with the names of the twelve years written on it. Pierce it with various thorns and discard it at midnight in a cemetery. This is the method of the earth amulet box. The twelve years are Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Sheep, Monkey, Bird, Dog, Pig. If there is no left side, then in the heart of a fierce ransom offering of twenty-five kinds of grains, put the bones of a human, a horse, and a dog, wrap a piece of your own cloth, and on the eleventh day at dusk, dig a hole eighty paces away and bury it, calling your own name, making the gesture of smoke offering three times, and then (413) bury it. If there is nothing above the neck, then in the southeast
