In the clear, single essence, The movement of awareness-radiance-wind, Causes the inner radiance to move outward, Thus, like compassion, it self-arises, The intrinsic power of awareness engages with radiance. Like light, it appears like a rainbow, Spreading purity in the realm of all phenomena. Like a body, it appears as a mandala body, Spreading limitlessly to all without center or edge. Like wisdom, it self-arises, Manifesting the pure realms. Like non-duality, it self-arises, The non-conceptual samadhi abides in its own nature. Like liberation from extremes, it self-arises, Everything is transparent, without center or edge. Like the door of impure samsara, it appears, The appearances of the six realms are like a dream. Clear below, like empty forms, This appearance (298) remains as the cause of delusion. Like the door of pure wisdom, it appears, Nirvana is self-appearing, the ground of primordial purity. Clear above, like the sky, This appearance also remains as the cause of liberation. The six ways of appearing are the basis of separation, The two doors appear as entrances in themselves. Entrance is separate for samsara and nirvana. These are the ways the ground appears. At that time, the way of Samantabhadra's liberation is: All the ground appearances of the play of compassion, Are known as the self-appearing awareness. All movements not recognized as external objects, Are liberated by cutting through at their own place. That way of appearing of awareness-radiance-compassion, Becomes compassion that cherishes beings. The appearing of the light-body wisdom, Is also directly cut through by realizing it as oneself. Appearing like non-duality, clarity in intention, Appearing like liberation from extremes, realizing the single realm. The door of samsara is realized as illusion, By dissolving oneself into the door of purity, The door of pure wisdom itself, All ground appearances dissolve into essence. Like gathering light into crystal, Abiding in the primordial inner space, the dharmakaya (299). Everything is the expanse of pure wisdom, Buddha from the beginning, again becomes Buddha. The way of Samantabhadra's liberation on the ground is: By showing the path to all, It is called the glory of all samsara and nirvana. Such a way of liberation is even now, Said to exist by incarnate holy beings. Moreover, by this dharma, Whoever is liberated, superior, middling, or inferior, From the ground appearance to the ultimate from the ground, Know that they are in accord with liberation. However, that liberation on the ground, Is without ignorance because it has not experienced delusion. It is liberated without moving from its own place. For individuals who are superior, middling, or inferior, Because they are liberated by training on the path after delusion, Know that the distinctions are like that. The way of Samantabhadra's liberation is shown.

On how sentient beings are deluded regarding awareness: Within the appearance of the ground-phenomenon arising, Without recognizing it as one's own appearance, Due to the four conditions of impure objects, One is deluded like mistaking a rope for a snake. The causal condition is the three types of ignorance: Unknowing of one's own face, co-emergent. (300) The co-emergent ignorance and, The awareness defiled by ignorance, Co-emergent with ignorance itself, Ignorance of one self-nature and, The movement of awareness engaging with objects. The ignorance of complete imputation, The three act as the causal condition, The dominant condition is the previous awareness. From the three, inner, realm, and wisdom, Essentially distinguishing the meaning of objects, Naturally distinguishing body and form, Awareness becomes the basis of mental delusion. Therefore, the dominant condition is awareness itself, Like one camphor being both medicine and poison. If realized, it is the condition for liberation, If not realized, it appears as the condition for delusion. The objective condition is the ground-phenomenon itself, Though it is one's own radiance, it appears as other. With one's own appearance as the object of focus, Like a rope appearing as a snake, a post, or a person. If examined, the rope is a post, Mistaking it for a snake or a person generates fear. Though the ground-phenomenon, the light of awareness, is one's own, Clinging to it as other becomes the condition for delusion. The contiguous condition is, The awareness defiled by ignorance and, The ground-(301)phenomenon arising simultaneously, From this, delusion is truly established, The five lights are obscured and awareness is obscured. The ignorant mind, due to habitual tendencies, The meaning of objects appears to the mind as samsara. Therefore, the contiguous condition is, Like a weapon and a body touching, A wound turning into pain. Thus, due to the impurity of the four conditions, The great self-arisen wisdom also, Wanders in the realm of the three realms of, Formless, form, and desire, the place of samsara. Bound by the grossness of body, speech, and mind, Controlled by the habitual tendencies of deluded appearances, pleasure, and pain. Though there is no movement from the expanse, It appears to move due to the change of self-appearance. The six realms revolve like conflicting fires. For example, without moving from one's own place, Like experiencing various places in a dream. Pleasure, pain, high, and low appear in existence. This is how delusion arises. There are two methods for reversing delusion: Knowing the self-nature, and, After knowing, making it manifest. The method for knowing the self-nature (302) is: At the time of delusion, all sentient beings, Possess the great self-arisen wisdom, Like oil in a sesame seed.
