The five paths. Contemplate the body, environment, and appearances of the four types of birth, and consider all the happiness and suffering of samsara and nirvana as your own experience. Act in accordance with the states of their body, speech, and mind (137), and consider them as one. Transform into many, meditate coarsely, and act subtly. Empty and hollow, and also scattered and free. Like a madman without real meaning, do whatever comes to mind. Whatever has happened in the past, is happening now, and will change in the future, all the phenomena of samsara and nirvana are practiced as self-appearing illusions. When resting, the body, speech, and mind should be in a virtuous state. Set aside activities such as teaching the Dharma, prostrations, and circumambulation. On a comfortable bed, the body should be motionless like a corpse, the speech should be silent like a stone, and the mind should rest in a vast emptiness like the sky. By diligently practicing in this way for three days, there are two benefits: common and supreme. The common benefit is to reverse the clinging to the reality of body, speech, and mind, pacify obstacles, and purify sins. The supreme benefit is that the body, speech, and mind will not fall into samsara again, but will be liberated into the three kayas, and will pass into nirvana in the realm of the three kayas of body, speech, and mind. Secondly, the actual empowerment consists of three parts: preparation, ritual (138), and praise. The first is to draw a circular mandala with five sets of scented water, using five materials. Arrange bouquets of jewels, medicine, incense, grains, and flowers. And arrange as many outer and inner offerings as possible, such as tsok and torma. The actual ritual is as follows: the student sits in front of the guru, removes the upper garment, and joins the palms. The guru asks: "Child, who are you?" Asking this three times. The student replies: "I am the only fortunate son of mind." When the student replies in this way, the guru says again: "Since that is so, enter this beautiful and joyful mandala of the Great Perfection of Naturalness!" After saying this, the guru says again: "In order to enter this mandala, please pray to the guru, please repeat after me. All you Vajradhara gurus, please listen. All the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas of the ten directions, namely, the Vajra, Ratna, Padma, Karma, and Tathagata families (139), please listen to me. I, named so-and-so, from this time onwards, until reaching the essence of enlightenment, the guru...
