Now, being irreversible in the three realms, one is at ease. By looking at individual phenomena with the eye of wisdom, the meaning of conventional truth appears, yet its nature (377) is empty. Seeing it as an illusion, one realizes that there is no grasping onto the nature of reality. Since consciousness has no basis in karma and habitual tendencies, one is at ease. By looking at the inner nature of reality with the eye of wisdom, one sees that consciousness is equal, without difference. Therefore, even in the nature of reality itself, there is no holding onto true self-nature. Because of realizing freedom from elaboration and purity, one knows that the nature of reality is without self-nature. When one's own philosophical system exhausts all phenomena, one is free from the attachment of grasping onto oneself as a phenomenon, and one is at ease. By looking nakedly at secret self-awareness with the eye of the pure nature of reality, the way of seeing is that one's own consciousness is the very essence, and the union of the essence and consciousness is seen directly. Therefore, one realizes that enlightenment is not attained through mental concepts and words, and one does not rely on mental concepts and words as a basis. Being at ease is the key to seeing the nature of reality as the field of experience of the senses. If one were to name these, it would be called the view of severing the continuum of the city. From severing the continuum of the city of the womb, with the view of not regressing in the three realms (378). Thereafter, the best of diligent practitioners will attain enlightenment in this very life, without the appearance of contaminated phenomena. The middling practitioner, having the guru's instructions, even if they practice a little but become exhausted and do not have time to practice, will attain enlightenment in the bardo of the nature of reality, when their own nature of reality becomes their strength. The lowest practitioner has requested the instructions on the cause, but due to laziness, has not had time to practice. Relying on the blessings of the truth of the nature of reality, they will exhale in the pure land of the self-nature Nirmanakaya, be born miraculously there, and will definitely attain enlightenment there. Therefore, it is called severing the continuum of the city. Its instruction is the view of the mountain king standing firm. For example, if one goes to the top of Mount Sumeru in the center, one sees the four continents at the same time. Similarly, when viewed from the top of Dzogchen, one understands the desires of the nine vehicles according to one's own system. However, other vehicles do not see the desires of Dzogchen. That very thing, from the perspective of immutability, is also like the mountain king standing firm. Its meaning is the meaning of the complete liberation of the three realms (379). Thus, when viewed by a yogi who has realized Dzogchen, there is not a single being who is not liberated.

O! At the time of such realization, it is called the liberation of the six realms in their own place. At that time, afflictions are purified in their place, like clouds dissipating in the sky, or like turbidity clearing in water, clearing in their own place, which is that one has never been confused in the first place, does not abide in the current confusion, and ultimately arises from the key point of being impossible to be confused. At that time, the person who is named as having abandoned the Dharma is the one who has no Dharma to cling to at all. Taking the result as the path means that the result of meaning does not revert to the cause, like the fruit of a hard tree. Moreover, at this time, the king occupies the throne and does not change, just as the prince of the royal family is enthroned from the crown of his head and occupies the throne and does not change, so does awareness itself occupy its own place. Subjugating the subjects and not changing means that just as one king subjugates the subjects and remains in the kingdom, the basis of the manifestation of the five consciousnesses of the five gates (380) is emptiness, so there is no name for samsara. Imprisoning the ministers and not changing means that if the king's ministers are imprisoned, the king is also in danger, and the movement of mental discrimination is cut off, so awareness gains autonomy. If that result is named, it is called the result of self-nature purity. It does not arise from contrived effort, but the meaning of original purity arises in the continuum, so it is called the result. The key instruction is to let awareness rest naturally. So how does that result arise? It arises from awareness resting on whatever appears and whatever arises. Its intention is that the three realms are all pure, meaning that one's own body, speech, and mind do not have karma, habitual tendencies, or discriminations, so the three realms are all pure. At this time, afflictions have become self-liberated, just like a snake's knot unraveling by itself. Likewise, afflictions have no chance to arise, and are self-(381)-liberated in the nature of reality. At that time, that person is called transcendent of Dharma. It is separate from the knowledge that clings to either samsara or nirvana. These are to be practiced by those with objective minds who have objects of focus, for the sake of those who enjoy the elaboration of meaning. Now, the practice for those with objective minds who have self-appearing awareness is taught, which is Trekchö and Tögal. Trekchö is not related to appearance.
