The four are: unchanging, not going, not coming (439), and not abiding. The inner four are: not appearing, not acting, not scattering, and not gathering. The secret four are: bright, close, remaining, and empty. The outer activities of speech are four: unspeakable, unshowable, unseeable, and without any. The inner four are: in nature, trembling, having an object, and without many. The secret four are: fresh, original, real, and unartificial. The outer activities of mind are four: stainless samadhi, lion-like vigorous samadhi, courageous-going samadhi, and wish-fulfilling jewel top samadhi. The inner four are: playing at the top of the victory banner, garland of lightning, great wheel, and blazing light samadhi. The secret four are: the samadhi called Mudra Subduing, the samadhi called Great Burning, the samadhi called Various Dharmata, and the samadhi called Manifestation of Self-Appearance Playing. What activities do these do? From the mere abiding of the essence, the twelve activities of the body appear, and the Dharmakaya alone performs all the activities. From the mere abiding in the aspect of self-nature, the twelve activities of speech appear, becoming a part of the uninterrupted Sambhogakaya. Thus, the twelve fulfill the characteristics of the complete Sambhogakaya. From the uninterrupted abiding of the power of great compassion, the twelve samadhis of the mind, in the state of equipoise, are the non-separating non-duality. Afterwards, appearance is self-appearance, clarity is without discrimination, and what is, is without self. Then, appearing as the Sambhogakaya, in the pure and densely arrayed place (441), in the palm of the hand of the teacher Vairochana, who is like a great lake in equipoise, there are twenty-one Buddha-fields, like Chinese stoves stacked up and down, and like brocade tents spread out among each other, each of which abides with the distinction of five, including the teacher. Below the vajra posture of the feet, there are sixteen Buddha-fields.

The place. That is like a parasol made of precious jewels, stacked in layers, and like countless piles of grain scattered among each other. The retinue is the immeasurable and countless Buddhas of the five families. The teaching is the letters of speech, which no one has created, and which abides together with the sons of all teachings. Time is that which does not change from the nature of reality. Also, at the time of the Sambhogakaya, the four outer activities of the body are: The body appears but has no inherent existence, therefore it makes the substantial completely pure. (442) Because the face and hands of wisdom are complete, therefore it makes the activities of the body's own nature completely complete. Because the face and hands of light are clear, therefore it makes self-appearance self-liberated. Because of the appearance of the face and hands of wisdom, therefore it completely accomplishes the activities of complete omniscience. The four inner ones are: Because the thirty-two major marks appear in the form of light, therefore it makes the qualities of the body completely complete. Because it is adorned with the eighty minor marks, therefore it makes the completely pure activities of the Dharma completely complete. Because countless collections of light rays arise from the body, therefore it makes the special qualities of the Buddha completely complete. Because the face always dwells openly, therefore it makes the activities of perfect enjoyment completely complete. The four secrets of the body are: Because it dwells without front or back, therefore it makes it unobservable in any direction. Because it dwells with the inside clear when viewed from the outside, therefore it makes the appearance part (443) completely complete. Because it dwells with the outside clear when viewed from the inside, therefore it completely accomplishes the grasping of dependence. Because the apex dwells completely transparent in all directions, therefore it makes the activities of non-abiding and non-ceasing complete. At the time of the Sambhogakaya, the four outer activities of speech are: Because the six self-born letters emanate from the power of the tongue, therefore it makes the activities of the selfless nature of reality completely complete. That enters the face of the father, therefore it enjoys the signless Dharma. That arises from the space of the mother, therefore it enjoys the non-dual nature of reality. Because that radiates and gathers, therefore it makes the activities of all phenomena without inherent existence complete. The four inner ones are: Because it speaks with its own essence, therefore it makes all phenomena independent in the inexpressible self-sound. Because it understands not just words, but the nature of reality beyond speech and thought (444).
