Because of holding on, from the reversal of cause and effect, one proceeds to the nature of self-essence. Having a cause is a fabricated name, and if it is destroyed, the result is separated from its own conditions and dwelling place, that is, in whatever there is, the doer does not dwell. Moreover, the cause of self and the guru's instructions of conditions are exhausted, disappearing in the absence of separation, in self-liberation there is no mind-holding, disappearing in self-illumination, then the result of samsara and nirvana proceeds to self-warmth, the conditions of samsara have no place to go beyond the nature of reality, and nirvana appears on the path, then there is no acceptance or rejection, and no affirmation or negation, and the two are inseparable, so the holding of samsara and nirvana as two, at one time (109) ceases, this is it. These and so on are based on the first condensed meaning of the object of the mind, the fourth, based on the nature of inverted wisdom, the way of cessation of samsara and nirvana is explained in two ways. Now, the fifth condensed meaning is explained, which arises based on the blessed and special skillful means guru, in which it is explained with three inner meanings, the first is to explain that the key to skillful means arises from the guru's mouth, with "skillful means have no cessation in what" and so on, the meaning of skillful means is to return from the non-initial place, and proceed to the top of what is the last, so it is called great skillful means. From various aspects, there is no cessation in anything, etc., as a representative, finally causing it to fall into the fixed view of the nature of reality. After such an explanation, what the faithful should hold is the vajra that is said to be non-dual with all the Buddhas, that is, the Joyful Vajra taught by the Buddhas of the three times (110). Moreover, the glorious one is the Vajradhara, the teacher of the tantras, who in the past was the guru of the teacher Joyful Vajra, so here the meaning of the teachings to you is explained. Thus, the first inner meaning of the fifth condensed meaning, explaining that the key to skillful means arises from the guru's mouth. Now the second inner meaning is explained, relying on the guru who has the characteristics, then sentient beings do not regress in the three realms, as explained. It is explained by "the guru with complete characteristics" and so on, and the meaning of the nature is to follow the future time, so the guru is proficient in the tantras, then the words have no mistakes, there is no懈怠 in the meaning and he is good at explaining, and he is proficient in the meaning, so he is proficient in the amount of disappearance, and he understands the symbolic

Being skilled in non-differentiation, the meaning naturally arises. That is, from here, being skilled in vastness and lineage, being familiar and skilled in methods of practice, realizing and being skilled in views, practicing and being skilled in experience. Having these four (111) is called having the complete characteristics of a lama. The lama is of two types: root and branch. The key is that those with faith and fortune rely on it, and there are three types of liberation: the superior faculty is liberated in the first moment by merely seeing when the lama points it out; the intermediate faculty knows what is pointed out and is liberated in the second moment by merely knowing it; the inferior faculty relies on understanding what is pointed out and is liberated in the third moment by merely understanding it. Thus, in the Net of Magical Illusion of Manjushri: "One moment distinguishes the differences." And: "One moment completes perfect enlightenment." That is, by the changes of faculties, the lama puts this key into the heart of anyone, and by merely pointing it out, one sees, and by seeing, one knows, and by knowing, one understands, then all three people find the correct certainty. For example, just as when a person with epilepsy has a seizure, he loses consciousness in an instant (112), the superior faculty is liberated. Again, just as drinking datura juice causes one to lose consciousness in the second moment, the intermediate ones are liberated in the second moment. Again, just as drinking mad poison causes one to lose consciousness in the third moment, the inferior ones are certain to be liberated in the third moment. Therefore, if one is liberated by relying only on pointing out the key, without needing to become accustomed to it, then not turning back in the three realms is like placing certainty in death that cannot be reversed. Thus, the second meaning is that relying on a lama who possesses the characteristics causes beings not to turn back in the three realms. Now, the third meaning is that liberation is achieved through the correct key, which is taught in terms: when one does not know, it is taught through knowing, etc., that is, leaving the appearance in its own place, not knowing, that is, not transforming it with the mind. That itself is not cut off by the faculties, but remains in its own place, and there is no other place to go from there. Although it seems that one has not been liberated from the thoughts of ordinary beings (113), it is as if there is no mind. The phrase "not looking" means that it itself has no direction or target, which is the supreme instruction of the lama, and it is named "giving".
