And, Amanase, and, the Great Seal Treasury, and, the Essence Section, and, the Path Section, and so on. The non-categorical, beyond-mind Great Seal is: the co-emergent, primordial, non-dual wisdom that pervades all sentient beings without exception, that very meaning. The free-from-elaboration Great Seal is: beyond all limits of words, letters, thoughts, and discriminations. The nature of the Great Seal is: unchanging, timeless, without coming and going, formless, all-pervading. The definition of the Great Seal is: "Seal" means to hold, because the free-from-elaboration, co-emergent wisdom, once recognized, is not attached to increasing it; the free-from-elaboration, joy-free increase; not exceeding the meaning of the Greatness of the beyond-mind essence; therefore, it excels all vehicles, hence it is called "Great," because there is nothing above it. From the outer vehicles onwards, up to the supreme tantric vehicle, it gradually increases. Its practice is the Great Seal. Also, it is great because there is no abandoning, adopting, negating, or establishing; it is great because there is no mental fabrication in meditation; it is great because the view relies on the unconditioned symbol of the primordial and is realized all at once. Therefore, it is called the Great Seal. Furthermore, when combined with the four: mindfulness, non-mindfulness, non-arising, and beyond-mind, first, mindfulness of mindfulness is explained. Who remembers? The fortunate yogi. How does he remember? He remembers the very co-emergent, primordial wisdom. How does he remember in terms of manner? He remembers in terms of emptiness, without any inherent object of focus. How does he remember? He remembers without mentally fabricating the Great Seal. Where does mindfulness go? It goes to non-mindfulness. (202) Therefore, the very transformation of consciousness abides as co-emergent wisdom; the cessation of the previous mindfulness is called non-mindfulness. Furthermore, non-mindfulness is explained. What is without mindfulness? The Great Seal itself is without mindfulness. What is absent? Mindfulness is absent by its very nature. How is there no mindfulness? There is no mindfulness like the clearing of clouds in the sky. Why is there no mindfulness? Because it abides in the nature of non-arising, therefore there is no mindfulness. What is non-arising? The mind of enlightenment is non-arising. How is it

If the place where memory arises does not exist, then the co-emergent wisdom will not arise either. Why does it not arise? Because it is submerged in the Dharma that transcends the mind, therefore it does not arise. Thus, everything is said to be beyond the mind. Realizing self-liberation is called transcending the mind. What is transcended? It is transcended into non-birth. Where is it transcended? It is transcended into the nature of the primordial Great Seal. By what is it transcended (203)? It is transcended by transcending the mind. How is it transcended? It is transcended like a person overcoming obstacles. Why is it transcended? It is transcended in order to see the meaning of the Great Seal. Therefore, for a person who realizes the Great Seal, there is no need to listen to, explain, meditate on, or recite the Dharma, etc., because the meaning of all these, such as the primordial Great Seal, and all the Dharmas that are shown metaphorically without transcending the nature, are abandoned. Therefore, that which is free from the bardo itself is the Great Seal, and nothing higher than that can be found elsewhere. Therefore, through the metaphor of the oral instructions, the memory of co-emergence meets the meaning of the primordial Dharma-nature. Thus, when they meet, the appearance of the previous memory ceases, hence it is without memory. Therefore, realizing non-birth through the meaning of metaphor is non-birth. Because it is free from the dualistic mind that grasps the meaning of metaphor, it is beyond the mind. Furthermore, in conjunction with the mudra, memory abides in metaphor (204), hence it is the karma mudra. The great mind that transcends the mind, which causes appearances to cease through metaphor, does not go beyond it, hence it is the samaya mudra. Therefore, realizing non-birth through the meaning of metaphor is the Dharma-nature, hence it is the Dharma mudra. Therefore, being free from both the meaning of metaphor, that mind that transcends the mind has nowhere to go, hence it is the Great Mudra. Furthermore, in conjunction with the four joys, memory experiencing the taste of Dharma-nature is joy, the taste being one in non-memory is supreme joy, realizing in the nature of non-birth is co-emergent joy, and the great mind that transcends the mind being free from elaboration is joy of cessation. Furthermore, in conjunction with the four moments, memory is the moment of various kinds, non-memory is the moment of maturation, non-birth is the moment free from characteristics, and the mind that transcends the mind is the moment without characteristics. Therefore, it is associated with the four divisions, four fruits, four bodies, and four wisdoms. All these are not different entities, but are various manifestations of the one primordial meaning (205) co-emergent wisdom, therefore it is a mudra.
