In order to ascertain, if one does not aim at focusing on both awareness and the expanse during practice, appearances cannot be manifestly ascertained. Therefore, it is crucial for the lama to manifestly ascertain the instructions on the expanse and awareness. In such a case of the expanse and awareness, the beginner first focuses on their own brow, which is the special instruction for striking the target. If awareness is not focused here, the appearance of the expanse cannot be grasped. Therefore, by focusing awareness here, wisdom arises from the expanse. If one does not thoroughly familiarize oneself with the lama's teachings in this way, the self-appearance of awareness cannot be ascertained. Therefore, constant familiarization causes experience to increase more and more, and thus it is called planting the seed for the growth of awareness. When different appearances arise, if one's own appearances do not reach their peak from one to another, awareness is limitless and it is impossible for a single result to arise. Therefore, familiarization with this (125) is extremely important. In this way, when one's own awareness reaches its peak, one obtains the unchanging body. Therefore, if one only looks at the increase of appearances and practices, one will not be liberated from the birthplace of the meditative deities. Therefore, if one does not ascertain the appearance of the exhaustion of reality as being nothing at all, it will become just that. With the instruction of grasping the vast sky with one's hand, appearances will not be established as having any essence, and appearances are not something that has temporarily passed away, but rather they have always been abiding in that very essence. Therefore, if the appearances of the expanse and awareness are not shown beforehand, one will not know the meaning of what is to be practiced. Afterwards, if one does not grasp the measure of awareness with the appearance of experience increasing more and more, one will not be able to cut off the object of clinging to the three kayas, so one should familiarize oneself with that. Afterwards, if awareness does not reach its peak, one will not be able to reverse the clinging to the extreme of the dharmakaya, so it is crucial to bring it to its peak. Finally, if one does not send reality to the point of exhaustion, the three kayas (126) will not be liberated in one's own continuum. Therefore, it has always been abiding in that way. Iti. The letters of the key points that gather contradictions. Whatever efforts are made by the common vehicles will turn into afflictions such as valid cognition. Therefore, genuine faith arises in one's own view, the instructions on manifest awareness, and one will strive for that, which is necessary. And, believing that there is nothing that can be separately designated as affliction, one develops self-arising faith in one's own nature.

Firmly arise first, and with great faith in this instruction, gain the confidence of not accepting other views. Therefore, cutting off the proliferation of many philosophical systems, have faith in the three words of the guru's instruction and strive to practice them; thoroughly cut off the proliferation of words and generate confidence in your own meaning; by seizing the key point of your own awareness, experience the nature of reality itself; by seeing the essence of your own awareness, there is nothing that does not become a companion to your view, no matter how (127) you speak or abide; therefore, know that it is inherently related to your own nature of reality. Iti. A key text summarizing the views of others. The key point that the teachings of the Great Perfection and other vehicles, as well as the view of the three spheres of bindus, have no connection to this meaning is: not understanding that things exist in the realm of the senses, but rather believing that they exist in the realm of wisdom; if one examines with wisdom, one cannot even find the depths of the aggregates, let alone awareness; therefore, from the perspective of binding to samsara, there is not even a particle of difference between the eternalist and nihilist views of the non-Buddhists and the views of the nine vehicles. All that is arranged as scriptures and treatises are all objects of knowledge; there is not even a particle that can be practiced. There are also those who speak great words like this; (128) if reality can be practiced, then it is not reality, and the Buddha has also said such words; that is only when one has practiced and measured one's own appearances to a certain extent, otherwise it is not. This is like a person who is not the owner but counts the wealth of others; it is considering the qualities of the ground or reality as the result; this is like praising the qualities of another person with words, but those qualities cannot become one's own clothes. None of these have any part grasped by correct view from the knowledge of mental discernment, and no part of appearance is obstructed, and it is because of the key point of not directly knowing awareness that this happens. By meditating and accomplishing in this way, some signs of body and speech may arise, but that is because of the merit accumulated in the past, and not because of this teaching. Signs of body and speech also arise in non-Buddhists (129).
