The Appendix of the Red Naked Letter: The fortunate disciple who practices this must first offer the lama gold equal to his own body and request it three years in advance, and various methods of practice should be done. Then, in a secluded place, it is crucial to ripen (92) with empowerments of elaboration, non-elaboration, extreme non-elaboration, and utter non-elaboration. Then, the instructions for liberation are taught: the instructions for the lazy to attain Buddhahood without practice, and for the diligent to attain Buddhahood in this life through practice. That is, Kuntuzangpo (Samantabhadra) has been enlightened from the beginning, but sentient beings have not realized it and wander in samsara. What takes it? Ignorance takes it. In this, they are mistaken for the four winds, the four lights, the four elements, etc. From the four elements, the four races arise. Thus, realization and the actions of doing also arise. Thus, because the capacity of the mind is large and small, therefore, the water person has a round and flat body, sparse hair, slow speech, a soft body, likes to sleep, and is mostly slow. Because of this, they are very graceful, lustful for women, have gentle words and are foolish, like the behavior of a cat. For this, the empowerment of elaboration is also given, and the instructions also teach the category of mind-holding with elaboration. The mind's teachings, vows, etc., are mainly cause and effect, and the mind is guided because non-elaboration (93) cannot be contained by the mind. When this manifests, the secret unsurpassable is taught and put into practice. In this, even if one does not attain Buddhahood, at the time of death, one will not go to the city of the womb, and there is no doubt that one will attain Buddhahood in the pure land of the manifested body. The earth person has a square and dignified body, a low hairline, a beard, speaks little and is unclear, likes to sit still, and does not like elaboration. Therefore, the empowerment of non-elaboration is also given, and the instructions also teach the mind division and the pith instruction division without distinction between meditation and non-meditation. Finally, the unsurpassable is taught. In this, even if one does not attain Buddhahood, there is no doubt that one will attain Buddhahood in the bardo at the time of death. The fire person has a triangular and red body, a sharp nose, is very thirsty, is impatient, has great anger and pride, and has great wisdom. Therefore, the empowerment of non-elaboration and extreme non-elaboration is given, and the instructions also teach the non-meditation of the Longchen Nyingtik. Then, as soon as one meets the unsurpassable at the end, the signs and measures are perfected.

Therefore, there is no doubt about attaining Buddhahood in five to seven years (94). Regarding the practitioner of wind: the body is light and swift, appearing in the mouth, unable to stay, with great jealousy, many lies, open-minded, and great wisdom, therefore power should also be avoided from over-expansion, and the unelaborated, direct transmission of meaning should be taught. Finally, by teaching the unsurpassed, in three years, one will attain Buddhahood in this very life without the appearance of outflows. It should be known as the Turquoise Letter transmission. Therefore, one should observe what is suitable and give the teachings accordingly. Furthermore, in the mind-essence meditation instructions, it says: "If you want to see the unseen land, do not keep that land in mind, keep the path in mind, and then go." Therefore, a disciple with faith should first please their own guru in a charnel ground or a secluded place, and then engage in the practice of accumulating merit. After that, the guru should give instructions. Therefore, one should make a decision on the three wisdoms, and one must attain Buddhahood in this very life, for if one is not liberated here, there is no difference from clinging to conceptual thought (95). Therefore, one should continuously engage in conduct, continuously engage in meditation, continuously engage in view, and continuously engage in fruition. Furthermore, attaining Buddhahood through continuous conduct refers to the conduct of clearly distinguishing between samsara and nirvana, the conduct of engaging in asceticism and counting, and the conduct of realizing the self-liberation of appearances, settling awareness into its natural state. Continuously engaging in meditation refers to: natural meditation and fabricated meditation. Natural meditation exists in ordinary gods and humans, sleeping in an eagle's nest, the eyes of a rabbit, the eyes of a child, the eyes of an arrow shaft, and so on. There is also contrived meditation in gods and humans not mentioned in the scriptures. Fabricated meditation refers to: yogis have two obstacles: immediate obstacles are food and clothing, and ultimate obstacles are dreams and habitual patterns. Therefore, there are four sessions of meditation (96): a meditation session relying on extracting essence, cutting attachment to food; a meditation session relying on wind and dependent origination, cutting attachment to clothing; a meditation session relying on the instructions of sleep, cutting attachment to dreams; and a meditation session relying on one-pointed concentration, cutting attachment to habitual patterns. Therefore, one should understand these three separately. Here, the object of focus for one-pointed concentration is the lineage.
