Thus, with the power to see the faces of three thousand Buddhas, one can liberate three thousand sentient beings. "This word comes from secret" means: This word, it is the true meaning; secret, it is to practice without being aware; comes from, it is to attain Buddhahood without remainder. "Men should practice like this" means: Men, it is the fortunate one; they, it is the follower; practice like this, it is the self-sound of the Dharma nature. As the only son taught, the great secret is also the most secret. "Great secret" means profound and vast. It is also the lineage practice of the Tathagata's supreme wisdom. Desiring to cut off the stream of the six realms of reincarnation, one should instantly visualize oneself as Vajrasattva, the nature of the five veins in the heart, the four-petaled lotus (207) in the center and the fifth, white, blue, yellow, red, and green. Just so, five things will arise in the heart. This is achieving Buddhahood through practice. The profound secret refers to the heart essence. The supreme refers to the self-sound of Dharmata, liberation through hearing, liberation through seeing (208), liberation through gazing, liberation through binding. In this life, through meditation and practice, the signs are perfected. The chapter on the unpolluted teaching, the fourth chapter, is complete. Samaya, Gya Gya Gya. Now, the fifth chapter will be explained. The meaning of Ema is: E is the Dharmadhatu, Ma is unchanging. The unchanging Dharmadhatu is the self-sound of great wonder. Whoever desires to arise in this way, means: "In this way" refers to a common sign. "Desiring to arise" means for the purpose of guiding beings. "Whoever" refers to the fortunate one. The limb of means is like this, meaning: "Of means" refers to guiding beings. The meaning of "limb" is to engage without error. "Like this" refers to the method. Various aspects, meaning: "Aspect" refers to the signs of the Buddha. "Various" refers to the common actions done for the benefit of beings. (209) These are it. In this way, first train before that, meaning: "In this way" refers to oneself. "That" refers to common actions. "First train" means for the sake of reversing self-attachment. If one does not train oneself beforehand in this way, there is a danger of falling into the power of one's own desires. How to train the mind in sequence, meaning: "With the mind" refers to oneself. "Sequence" refers to seven: First, contemplate that all conditioned phenomena are impermanent, and thereby train the mind of Bodhicitta. Second, contemplate temporary happiness and suffering and lasting happiness, and thereby train the mind of Bodhicitta. Third, contemplate the many causes of death, and thereby train the mind of Bodhicitta. Fourth, contemplate that all the actions of this life are meaningless, and thereby train the mind of Bodhicitta. Fifth, contemplate the qualities of the Buddha, and thereby train the mind of Bodhicitta. Sixth, contemplate the instructions of the Guru, and thereby train the mind of Bodhicitta. Seventh, contemplate non-(210)conceptualization, and thereby train the mind of Bodhicitta. How to train refers to practicing for three days, three days, twenty-one days. With this, impermanence is attained in the mind, meaning: "With this" refers to mind training.
