I, in accordance with the scriptures, will briefly and clearly explain the nature that is in harmony with all and superior to all. Among the basis, the sphere, the path, and the fruition of liberation, the sphere is the spontaneously accomplished nature of clear light, possessing the essence of emptiness, clarity, and awareness, without differentiation, and endowed with a multitude of qualities. (92) Like the sun, it is spontaneously accomplished, its nature is completely pure, and it is primordially empty of the stains of differentiation. Because of this, from awareness and ignorance, nirvana and the appearances of the six realms arise. As soon as they arise, in that sphere of essence, there is no change of good and bad, purity and impurity. Just as in the sphere of space, the changing appearances of the four elements do not stain it, it is the source that opens up everything, and is called the sphere. Because it is the support of the mind with stains, its nature is spontaneously accomplished, it is called the nature of mind, clear light, and like the sun and clouds, it is obscured by sudden stains, therefore it is called the element, and because it abides for a long time, it is called the good of the beginningless dharma element, and because it is the way of abiding, it is called the ultimate truth. Because it is beyond thought, it is the perfection of wisdom. Because it is unconditioned, it is the spontaneously accomplished mandala. Because it is the treasury of the ocean of qualities such as power, it is said that the essence of the Sugata pervades all beings. Although it is present within oneself, it is not seen, like the treasure under the ground, the lamp inside the vase, the fruit in the husk, the Sugata in the ground (93), the jewel in the cloth, the jewel in the mud, the honey in the lotus, the jewel in the rock, the jewel of the giant, the gold in the silver ore, the fruit of the tree, the butter in the milk, and the great silk cloth of the three thousand worlds, etc., these are used as metaphors, as it is said in the scriptures, the essence of awareness pervades all beings. This is called the basis of the essence of definite meaning. From such a sphere, self-awareness is liberated, and in a fraction of a moment, one becomes a Buddha, the primordial protector, the perfection of qualities, with the completely pure vision of inner reality, the first Buddha establishes the Dharma assembly. In the beginningless sphere, which is difficult to fathom for a long time, due to the power of ignorance, the delusion of the six realms, the small beings are the three lower realms, the medium beings are humans, and the large beings are gods, born from ignorance, thus the Victorious Ones have said.

Like that, each's situation and enjoyment, happiness and suffering, etc., are like dreams arising from sleep and intoxication, manifesting various appearances, sentient beings, and the environment (94). Upon the ground of the Tathagatagarbha's meaning, the Alaya-vijnana, initially there is ignorance, the unindicated knowing. Various habitual patterns are the basis of the Alaya-vijnana's samsara. From that arises the Alaya-vijnana's own nature, as well as the five sense consciousnesses and the discriminating mind, and the afflicted mind, manifesting the eight consciousness aggregates. By that, karma and afflictions are accumulated, and due to the habituation to objects, meanings, and the body, various illusions, happiness, and suffering continuously arise. Like the turning of a water wheel, it is samsara. In short, the root of delusion in samsara is ignorance, from which arise the grasper and the grasped. By that, karma and afflictions are accumulated, manifesting various happiness and suffering of existence as a result. Because it arises from conditions, is impermanent and compounded, it is unreal, deceptive, and of the nature of delusion. The world conjured by fluctuating conceptual thoughts, is unstable and of the nature of decay, because it is compounded. From different ignorances arise the grasper and the grasped, actions are like the thumb and forefinger of a man, karma is like the bowstring that propels, grasping is like an empty (95) space, sentient beings are like arrows, afflictions are like targets, happiness and suffering appear separately. Therefore, the result born from the origin is, the samsaric being tormented by suffering and afflictions, the opportunity to exhaust karma and liberate from afflictions is rare. Moment by moment, from the cause of conceptual thoughts, the result gradually and naturally arises as happiness and suffering. Therefore, seek the means to turn away from that. From such a sea of suffering of samsara filled with many faults, in order to liberate, the Buddhas have spoken of the boat of Dharma, the entrances of various vehicles are inconceivable. This is the ultimate and certain essence. The pinnacle of Sutra, Tantra, and Upadesha is luminosity, or how the reality of the Tathagatagarbha is, is the meaning of the Upadesha of direct experience. In order to purify samsara, in order to realize nirvana, there are two types of entrances of emptiness and appearance, called Trekchö and Tögal. First, the view of the meaning of Trekchö is, however many illusions and misperceptions of samsara there are, because they are temporary, because they are obscuring, because they are deceptive, because they arise from conditions, because they are decaying (96), therefore they are unreal.
