Om. Samaya. The Quintessence of Tögal, the Clear Expanse of Space. The Clear Expanse of Space. Homage to the glorious Vajrasattva. Prayer: The primordial protector, the spontaneously perfect Buddha, The lord of the five lights of wisdom, The glory of all samsara and nirvana, Homage to Kuntuzangpo! From the essence of primordial clear light, Kuntuzangpo liberates sentient beings who are confused. The reversal of confusion and its results, Are explained according to the tantras, agamas, and instructions. First, the general ground of the primordial: Essence, nature, and compassion, The three are unobstructed in their clear and empty arising, Like space, the sun and moon, and a mirror, They abide as the spontaneously accomplished great bliss from the very beginning. Since samsara and nirvana (79) are not separate, The arising and the place of arising are not prophesied. It is called the ground from which all dharmas arise. It is inseparable from self-awareness, And because qualities are spontaneously accomplished, It is said to be the Sugata-garbha. Because the essence is emptiness, it has never been permanent; Because the nature is clarity, it has never been cut off; Because the compassion is awareness, it is not a blank void. Free from one and many, The inseparable three bodies are indivisible, It is the Buddha of the ground of nature. Like lighting the lamp of the Buddha, The primordial protector, the light does not change, It is called Amitabha. This is the abiding state of the primordial. The way in which the ground appearance arises from it is: Like light arising from a jewel, The ground appearance arises from the nature of the ground. These are also the three powers of the ground: The power of the essence is the object of discernment, In the nature of non-conceptual space itself. The power of the nature is the five colors, The self-radiance of wisdom arises distinctly. The power of compassion is just awareness, It arises in the manner of (80) distinguishing objects. This is the ground of both liberation and confusion, It is the spontaneous accomplishment without certainty. At that time, self-appearance and self-awareness, In a single instant, differentiate, In a single instant, become perfectly enlightened, It is the liberation of Kuntuzangpo. In the self-light of the wisdom of appearance, Because of recognizing oneself as coemergent, The coemergent wisdom arises. Having destroyed the unknowing non-indication, One becomes enlightened upon the original enlightenment, Having reached the end in the primordial realm, One comes as the guide who precedes all. In order to show the path, with great compassion, Ability, wisdom, and activity are perfected. The way in which ignorant sentient beings are confused is: When the ground appearance arises as self-appearance, Not recognizing the self-arisen

When co-emergent ignorance arises on the 識 (consciousness), the five lights take the realm and body as the basis of delusion. Compassion arises as the basis of delusion of the mind. The essence of ignorance is the basis of delusion. At that time, in the appearance of the five lights, the clinging to otherness transforms into conceptualization, which is the ignorance of complete imputation. Because the objects of the four conditions are impure, various deluded appearances are experienced in the realms of formless (81), form, and desire. Like not knowing the Datura flower and eating it, delusions arise. Bliss and suffering, existence and non-existence, the container and its contents appear. Or like various dreams, various things arise from one sleep, and delusions appear on the very nature of awareness. When they appear, all deluded appearances and deluded clinging are without inherent existence, they are merely appearances. Thus, for sentient beings who are deluded, the essence of primordial luminosity remains without decrease or increase. In the center of the hearts of all sentient beings, there is self-aware, empty, and clear awareness. Its essence is nature, compassion, and it abides as Dharmakaya, Sambhogakaya, and Nirmanakaya. In the pure expanse of the inner sphere, awareness is the body and the essence of bindus and rays. Together with the lineage of the Lu Gu, it abides naturally without separation. Moreover, that self-awareness is immovable, because it is the nature of the three wisdoms, the three kayas are spontaneously accomplished and one in the expanse. Because the resonance of awareness mixes with the winds, the Alaya consciousness, together with its collections, arises as the actions of samsara (82). The root place is the city of the wind-possessing. From that, the inner channels and leaves, and at the gate of the nostrils, is the moving horse. That which does not ride the resonance of awareness is called mind. From grasping the six objects, afflictions arise. From that, the actions of samsara arise. That is the state of delusion. How to reverse the way of delusion, deluded appearances and deluded clinging arise from the mind. Therefore, in order to purify the mind itself, one should familiarize oneself with wisdom. Moreover, that is the wisdom of awareness itself. By familiarization, the mind stops and delusion empties. Therefore, one should distinguish between mind and wisdom, which are mutually contradictory to be abandoned. The path is to familiarize oneself with the four lamps, and when the four appearances are perfected, liberation in this life is for the diligent. The middling ones in the bardo, and the lowest ones, liberate in the way of the self-nature Nirmanakaya. One should be diligent in the three instructions. First, in the instructions of this life, please the holy guru, with and without elaboration, and extremely without elaboration, and most without elaboration, etc.
