Similarly, it is the same during "Zug pa." By this, one can also plant the seed of the emanation body. So it is said. Eighth, when livestock become ill, contemplate Kuntuzangmo (Samantabhadri) as being inseparable from the father Buddha, and during "Zug" recite it eight or sixteen times, pacifying the livestock diseases and so forth of the world realm with light and one's own sound, and think of attaining Buddhahood. During "Byer," make offerings with lamps, during "Nyom" (50) invite an Arhat, or if there is none, invite the root guru, and during "Khrug" hold a feast. As it says in that very text: When livestock diseases occur in the country, this self-arisen great letter, recite it eight or sixteen times, reciting this with the three-pointed tongue, at this time make offerings with Aloke. For Arhats also, it is highly praised to hold a feast. Reading is done during "Zug pa" itself, offerings are made during "Byer ba" itself, calling is done during "Nyom pa," and a feast is held during "Khrug pa." A person who acts in this way will definitely plant the seed of the emanation body, there should be no doubt about this, and will definitely obtain excellent fruit. So it is said. Furthermore, the times of "Byer ba" and "Zug pa" and so forth, at this time are calculated by a single day and night. That is, during the day, from dawn until late morning is "Byer ba." From then until not reaching "Gud" is "Zug pa." The very center of "Gud" is "Nyom pa." From the time when the shade descends until the sun sets is "Khrug pa." During the night, dusk is "Byer ba," after dusk is "Zug pa," midnight is "Nyom pa," and dawn is "Khrug pa." Like this (51), whichever part of the day or night those signs appear, combine them with the sequence of "Byer Zug," and perform reading, contemplation, calling, and the feast of the gathering. These sequences are arranged as they appear in the key text. Furthermore, on the eighth, tenth, and twenty-fifth days of the dark moon, set up a gathering and torma during the day and night, and yogis with vows gather together and read, enjoying the gathering, causing the increase of appearances, realization, and samadhi to arise, all transgressions are made complete, and all wishes are fulfilled, so reading should be done on auspicious days. Sixth, when to burn, when a yogi passes away, place (this object) at the heart and burn it together with the corpse. This has three aspects: preliminary purification, the actual burning, and subsequent rituals.

The teachings of La-tshang. First, since the dissolution process occurring for three and a half days after death is not complete, and because consciousness remains in the heart, the corpse should not be moved or cremated. During this time, it is necessary to practice the instructions for purifying sins, introducing, and transferring consciousness, etc. (52). As stated in the Dzogpa Rangjung, for six days, in order to purify the habitual tendencies of the six realms of beings, six four-petaled lotus mandalas are constructed in sequence, on which is written A ṇṛ Su Tri Pre Duḥ (Tibetan, Sanskrit Devanagari, Sanskrit Romanized, Chinese literal meaning). The Dharma of the absence of happiness in the six realms is taught. The method and instructions for not being born there are taught, and after the introduction, the mantra Oṃ Ma Ma Koliṃ Samanta Che-ge-mo'i Le Dang Bag-chag Thams-chad Śānti Kuru Ye Svāhā (Tibetan, Sanskrit Devanagari, Sanskrit Romanized, Chinese literal meaning) is recited. On the seventh day, a mandala of the great bindu is made, and the mother and son of the bardo luminosity are introduced. The path of practice is taught in the realm of the Svabhavikakaya. After that, it is said that cremation should be performed. Alternatively, according to the key text, near the corpse, like drawing a Kalachakra mandala, in the center, a vase with complete characteristics is arranged. In it, visualize Samantabhadra and Samantabhadri, the five families of Buddhas, and the six Munis, and dissolve the wisdom beings into them. Recite the vase mantra and offer praise as much as possible. Banish the obstacles of the corpse, invite the consciousness of the deceased, and bathe it with the mantra of the deity and other blessed items, as well as vase water, and also sprinkle it with sand while reciting Ma Ma Koliṃ (Tibetan, Sanskrit Devanagari, Sanskrit Romanized, Chinese literal meaning) (53). Bathe and recite it again and again. After that, recite as much scripture as possible, and speak of the faults of samsara, the benefits of liberation, and the introduction to the bardo. Arrange the six realms mandala as before, wipe it away day by day, and teach the path of practice. On the seventh night, cremate or abandon the body, collect the remains of the karma, and recite auspicious words. In this way, through the recognition of one's own nature by the consciousness in the bardo, one is liberated, or it is impossible not to be born in the Svabhavikakaya. Second, the actual cremation: if cremating the body stretched out, in a pit four cubits long, build a bridge two cubits high, place wooden logs more than one cubit long on top, place the corpse head down on the logs, and cover it with wood on top to cremate it. If cremating the body bent over, tie a liberation cord to the heart, remove the clothes, tie the knees and chest together with a rope, bend the armpits and elbows, and bind it into a wheel.
