Having experienced the pure fragrance that transcends the mundane, the tongue enjoys a hundred flavors of meditative absorption, eliminating the need for food; the body feels the warmth of bliss-clarity-wisdom; the mind remembers countless lifetimes of oneself and others, and is empowered by clairvoyance, engaging in the exhaustion of outflows. In post-meditation, by knowing all appearances as the eight examples of illusion, one should be liberated from attachment, aversion, and afflictions (387). Whatever arises as the play of the mind, whether affirmation or negation, decisively determine it to be without basis or root, and do not engage in grasping or rejection. Until self-grasping subsides into the expanse, meditate on profound instructions, be wary of the laws of cause and effect, cultivate pure perception and devotion, and keep your own mind free from faults. Uphold vows and commitments, and dwell alone in solitude. Abandon distractions and busyness, and rely on unnecessary transmissions. Act without attachment or clinging, and cultivate the path of non-grasping. Constantly contemplate death, and kindle diligence like a fire. Spend days and nights in virtue, and relinquish the activities of this life. Always rely on the lama, and offer prayers with devotion. Carry the path of non-reliance, and rest in a state of non-action. Abandon the duality of self and other, and sever the root of hope and fear. Transform adverse circumstances into the path, and view all appearances as the lama. By knowing that all is self-appearance, abandon self-grasping and clinging. Since nothing has any essence, practice the yoga of non-reality. By knowing primordial emptiness and present emptiness, self-appearance naturally arises (388). Dwell in such methods and conduct, and pass the days and nights. When the mind wanders into external objects, train in the power of awareness. Strive for practice in solitude. As long as there is affirmation and negation, clinging, engage in accepting virtue and rejecting evil, and train in the meaning of non-duality. As long as nothing arises as a companion, change the focus of the instructions and look at the meaning of awareness. As long as the fear of birth and death arises, by training in the meaning of non-arising and non-ceasing, when all inner and outer phenomena appear as the nature of reality, one abides in the yoga of the continuous stream of non-meditation. Thus, by pointing out the key points of the profound instructions, may the grasping and the grasped of fortunate ones be naturally liberated, and in the realm of primordial awareness, the spontaneously perfect Samantabhadra, may all beings effortlessly accomplish everything. The key instructions on Trekchö, primordial purity, and natural abiding, composed by the supreme Atiyoga practitioner Longchen Rabjampa, are complete. Trekchö's

Herein dwells the Back Text, Sky Untainted. This is called the Back Text for Trekchö, Sky Untainted. Homage to glorious Samantabhadra! (389) From the very beginning, free from all roots of enlightenment, I pay homage to the unmade, spontaneously accomplished state. I shall write a back text on the key points of practice for the great Kadak, the intrinsic nature of phenomena. Here, there are four types of yoga to be practiced. First, the yoga of constantly engaging in view is said to be the foundation, hence it is called 'grok ma'. Generally, the views of the nine vehicles, each with its own distinct tenets, are such that, when summarized, they have not been liberated from the confines of intellectual clinging. Since they have not been liberated from the web of elaboration in general, they are temporarily set aside in equanimity. Here, the view of the nature of reality itself is threefold: the recognition of the view, the cultivation of its method, and the explanation of the realization arising from the method, explained through symbols, means, and representative words of self-arisen wisdom. First is the view of the Great Perfection of naturalness, free from effort, spontaneously accomplished. The nature of reality is such that awareness, whose essence is emptiness, is not established in any way, yet its projections are unceasing in any manner; its essence is empty, its nature is clear, and its compassion is the unceasing (390) nature of reality. From the perspective of the essence of emptiness, which inherently possesses the realization of primordial Buddhahood as its intrinsic quality, there is no samsara, no nirvana, no virtue, no non-virtue, no acceptance, no rejection, no hope, no doubt, no essence, no recognition, no thought, no non-thought, no entity, no sign, no nature, no suchness, no basis, no path, no result, no defilement, no freedom from defilement, no beginning, no end, no middle, and nothing established even as the expanse of phenomena. It cannot be placed even as the mere absence of elaboration. From the perspective of nature, it is endowed with numerous terms such as form, wisdom, and compassion, which are the nature of reality. From the perspective of compassion, it is the projection and understanding of various kinds of awareness. These are neither separate nor the same. It is the nature that transcends the philosophical investigations of tenets, the objects of clinging, and the realm of intellectual analysis, and abides primordially in the vast expanse of liberation from extremes. It is like an illusory dream. The face...
