Since everything has never existed from the beginning, although it appears as if it is appearing, existing, and established, it is determined to be the great state of original emptiness, free from roots. Similarly, from the moment sound arises, it does not exist in the outer, inner, or intermediate realms. And from the moment smells, tastes, and tangible objects appear, both the object of appearance and the mind that grasps it do not exist in the outer, inner, or intermediate realms. Since its essence is nonexistent when it appears, it does not arise from anywhere, does not abide anywhere, and does not go anywhere. One should ascertain that it is the nature of (380). This is the power of the great state of original liberation and abiding. Then, there are three ways to directly reveal the self-arisen wisdom of no-mind. First, examining appearances: Go to the top of a high mountain and have them stare in all four directions. What is it? Shout it out, shout it out! When you do, a clear awareness arises in the field of appearance, without any name being given to it. The mind that says, "This is this," ceases, and it is called the awareness of the field of wisdom. Alternatively, block the air in your nostrils and stare at the external objects. Like a child seeing, an awareness that is clear and free from names and meanings arises in the field of appearance, without any grasping. At that time, the air dissolves into the heart, and the channels remain in their natural state. The mind ceases, and it is the intention of clear wisdom. Examining awareness: "My own mind, the object of mind, the emptiness of objects, without attachment, liberation from bondage, what is 'phyam phyam'?" Recite whatever irrelevant things come to mind, and shout it out (381). From the general sound, without any recognition, one is stunned and disappears into 'phyam me'. This is the intention of irrelevant original liberation. Alternatively, "Where were you and I born in our previous lives? Where will we be born in our future lives?" Shout it out with force! When one is asked, "What are you saying?" and collapses into 'phyam brdal', stunned and remaining in 'phyam me', this is the cessation of mind and the intention of self-illuminating awareness. One should ascertain this. Third, examining the non-duality of appearance and mind: The lama points out a place to the student and says, "Go there." When they have reached halfway, in the interval of saying, "Now come back here," although the going and coming and the field of appearance have not ceased, the grasping of the many names and meanings, the thoughts of the mind, cease. The awareness that clearly knows and arises in 'phyam me' is to be ascertained as the wisdom of the nature of awareness. Thus, through various symbols and methods, the awareness that is free from grasping and being grasped, the intention of the great state of original ease and self-abiding, the great self-existing spontaneously accomplished

Recognizing at all times is recognizing the wisdom that transcends mind. (382) The second meaning is actually introducing the self-nature of awareness, which has two aspects. Introducing the intention into its own place is done by adjusting the posture and introducing it in a state of slight relaxation. O fortunate one, the present awareness is free from distraction and contraction, and the channels are not blocked. This very state of being stunned and open is the intention of the primordially pure Dharmakaya. There is no outer or inner, no view, meditation, action, or result, no existence or non-existence, no affirmation or negation, no words or terms. Naturally abide in openness, relax in clarity, be liberated in the beginning, be free and easy, be without grasping, be clear and empty, be without truth, and abide in a state where the essence cannot be recognized, without effort or clinging to truth. This is it. Recognize the spontaneously accomplished great perfection of the awareness of primordial liberation Dharmakaya, be empty in non-thought, be silent in non-meditation, be clear in non-effort, be free in non-trace, and do not cling to anything. Abide in a state like the sky. Abide unchangeably and steadily like a mountain. Abide immovably and clearly like an ocean. (383) Abide without hope or fear like a finished task. Abide with a broad mind and a happy heart like an old man. In the Dharma nature of non-fabrication and natural abiding, the spontaneously accomplished Dharmakaya of the non-abiding primordial state is spontaneously accomplished. Do not measure or fabricate, but let the natural state be relaxed. This is the instruction. The introduction to the absence of arising and ceasing of memory and awareness is: Again, fortunate one, in that state of abiding, various thoughts seem to arise, but because there is no place of arising or one who arises, recognize that there is no arising or disappearing. Look at the very moment of arising, and there is no arising or liberation in the outer and inner essence that cannot be recognized. There is no such thing from the beginning, so repeat it. Abiding in the natural state, it is unmoving and spontaneously accomplished. Because it is certain that there is no arising or non-arising, believe that there is no liberation or non-liberation. Do not fabricate meaningless mind with antidotes, but naturally relax and abide in that unborn state. Looking at it is not enough, and chasing it cannot catch it. It has never existed, so do not cling to it as existing. No matter how it arises, let it arise naturally and relax. Even if you connect the mind to the mind that has no benefit, (384) the wheel of thought will never stop. The state of natural abiding in an instant is the Dharmakaya. The cessation of mind is the original state of wisdom awareness. No matter how thoughts and ideas fly, at the time of appearance,
