If I think it's like that, it's because you've established it, right? Then, consider this mountain to be a pile of fire, and let's both see if it appears as fire in our perception. If it doesn't appear as fire, but you think it is fire, then it's because it's not fire. Whatever thought (375) arises, it arises in reality, and since there is no arising agent, it cannot be said to be mind, because it has never been separated from anything, but is temporarily speculated upon and strongly clung to. In this way, when examining the mind, when it becomes inexpressible and empty, this is called seeing the inexpressible nature of the mind itself. Secondly, examining one and different: when joy arises in the mind, are that joyful mind and the condition of joy appearing in the form of a relative, one or different? If they are one, since there is no one place and one author, it is unreasonable to be one, and since joyful wisdom arises from the appearance of a relative, it is also unreasonable for the former and latter to be of the same essence, because the past and present contradict each other at the same time, and the sequence of wisdom also contradicts relatives and joy. If they are different, then in the self-time of one mind, is the mind of the relative this one, and the mind of joy that one, thus forming two separate parts (376)? In reality, is appearing as a relative and appearing as joy separate from your own conceptual mind? If you think that time and form are different, then who knows that they are different? Did he say it? Is there writing? That's what you think. If you think it's established, then if it becomes like that because of the establishment, then establish it as one, and establish joy itself as non-joy, and see if it becomes like that. If you say it becomes like that, then it is both one and different, which is impossible because it contradicts itself at the same time. Similarly, when conditions such as displeasure arise, the form of an enemy or unpleasant words, and one's own mind, are separately grasped as two by one's own conceptual mind, even if one is alone, he is not satisfied, thinking that he said this to me. By observing that the two times are different, knowing that this is only the creation of one's own conceptual mind, and that it has not been established as either one or different, one is liberated from all affirmation and negation. Similarly, when scattering to external objects, are the form of the external object and the awareness of the one who appears (377) one or different? If they are one, just as external objects appear as colors, shapes, and names, the mind also has the fault of appearing in that way. If you say it appears, then

It is said in the sutras and tantras that the mind has no color or shape to be identified, and it cannot be found when examined, so it is clear. If the mind is different, then divide the external objects into indivisible particles. Divide the mind into past, future, and present, and into outer, inner, and intermediate three. When these cannot be established separately, there is no nature of difference. Even if that is the case in reality, if it is said to be different in conventional terms, in reality, because it is inherently so, the reality is always like that, so the purpose can be achieved. It's like eating Datura flower and experiencing hallucinations. Also, when thoughts and ideas arise, are they one or different? If they are one, it contradicts being diverse. If they are different, then many thoughts are not simultaneous, but arise one after another, so in the same instant, there are many parts, because there is no different existence in the mind, so it is clear. If you say that in the mind or consciousness it is one, but the appearances are different, then there is also a fault. Because if you examine this single mind (378), it has no essence, so it cannot be established as one. Because it cannot be established as one, the various different appearances that arise on it are even more impossible to establish. Thus, through actual observation, the mind, thoughts, and ideas are like Wolwol here, thoughts and ideas have not arisen, there is no place to arise, and there is no possibility of arising. For things that cannot arise, in the past, because of meaningless deluded thoughts, thinking that there is a mind, through view, meditation, and action, making a lot of effort, being convinced that it is wrong, this is called complete liberation. Moreover, all the sutras, tantras, and pith instructions say that the mind is rootless and baseless, like the sky, but those who have not seen it because of foolishness, like opening their eyes now, clearly and manifestly see it, this is called realizing the true nature of the mind. Third, observing the naked seeing of one's own nature is indicated through the two ways of original liberation's freedom and universal absorption's freedom. That is, to revert the five objects of external appearance into self-luminous and nameless. Like the image appearing in a mirror (379), first, where did it come from? Where does it reside now? Where does it disappear in the end? Are the surface of the mirror and its image the same or different? If you observe, the image did not come from anywhere in the beginning, so it has no essence. Now it seems to exist, but in reality it does not reside anywhere, so it has no nature. In the end, it does not go anywhere, because it has not come into the mirror. Because the image is not established, the appearance also has no substance to disappear. Similarly, appearance is the form of external objects, and memory and awareness are the nature of the mind.
