It ends at the exhaustion of its own nature. Reaching the limit: It is reaching the peak of oneself, so there is no need to work hard to practice. Appearance: It is using the appearance of the Sambhogakaya. Fourth, the appearance of the exhaustion of Dharmata: The delusions and thoughts of the mind with external and internal obstacles, together with the increase of appearances, are exhausted. Moreover, Dharmata is the nature of awareness, like the sky. Exhaustion is: later, stone mountains. (350) The inner illusory body is obstructive. Secretly, there is no appearance of distracting and gathering thoughts. Appearance is like the sun being separated from the clouds and being self-illuminating. The appearance of compassion and wisdom appears continuously. Fourth, there are four instructions for relying on the extremes: Establishing the foundation on the three immovable things, measuring with the three abidings, nailing with the three attainments, and showing the measure of liberation with the four cushions. First, during the practice, the body does not move, and it does not exceed the three sitting postures, so that the pulse and energy stay upright, and the thoughts naturally stop. The eyes do not move, and they are not separated from the three ways of looking, so that the present object is clear, and it is free from the conceptual mind and the verbal additions. The wind and awareness do not move, and rely on slowness, so that Dharmata stays in its own nature, and the mother and child merge without distinction. There is a need to stay in the original realm. Second, the three abidings are: By doing so, the external appearance abides, and bad conditions appear as helpers. The inner illusory body abides, and is free from the actions of delusion. The secret wind and mind abide (351), and it is impossible for thoughts to arise. At this time, there are two ways to measure with dreams and to show signs on the body and speech. The first is: The best of diligence, dreams stop completely. The middle one knows that dreams are dreams. The worst one is that there are no bad dreams, and they all turn into good ones. The second one has four types: When Dharmata is manifest, the body is like a turtle being put into a container, unable to leave the sitting posture. The speech is like a mute, unable to speak. The mind is like a dakini grabbing the heart, and thoughts seem to be scattered, but they have not left the root. When the experience increases, the body is like a person suffering from illness, without decoration and cleaning. The speech is like a madman talking nonsense, leaving no trace. The mind is like being attacked by a poisonous disease, and the distraction and collection of thoughts are cut off. When awareness reaches the limit, the body is like an elephant.

Like sinking into a large swamp, instantly traveling through mountains and rocks without obstruction. Speech is as pleasant and delightful as a baby in a clay pot. The mind is like being struck by an arrow (352), thoughts and ideas cease. When the nature of reality is exhausted, the body is like a corpse in a charnel ground, without the confusion of right and wrong. Speech is like an echo in the mountains, repeated by others. The mind is like a person recovering from an epidemic, thoughts and ideas purified in the realm of reality, and awareness abides in self-illumination. Third, the three attainments are: outwardly, gaining mastery over appearances, the appearances and conditions are liberated into the pure land. Inwardly, gaining mastery over the aggregates, the illusory body is liberated into clear light. Secretly, gaining mastery over the realm of reality and awareness, delusions and thoughts naturally cease. Fourth, the four assurances are: upwardly, having hope of attaining Buddhahood, and no doubt of not attaining it. Downwardly, having hope of not being reborn in samsara, and no doubt of being born. The second meaning, the key instructions for attaining enlightenment in the intermediate state, also has four aspects: In the intermediate state of abiding in its own nature, cutting the thread of knowable objects with wisdom, like a bird entering its nest. In the intermediate state of approaching death, clarifying what is unclear, like a beautiful woman looking in a mirror. In the intermediate state of the nature of reality (353), trusting in self-appearance, like a child falling into its mother's arms. In the intermediate state of becoming, continuing the karma, like a fox entering a broken ditch. The first is from birth to the time of death, for the profound key instructions, through hearing, cutting off the additions of words, through thinking, cutting off the additions of both words and meanings, through practice, implementing the meaning on oneself, and not deviating from its essence. The second is, at the time of death, clarifying the key instructions: if you are clear and understand, that is enough. If not, then by a lama or a special friend, someone who does not violate the vows, condense and refine the key instructions of the intermediate state, and guide them in an easy-to-understand way. That is, earth dissolves into earth, the four skins fall to the ground. Water dissolves into water, some water flows out from the three places of the mouth, nose, and eyes, and then dries up. Fire dissolves into fire, heat contracts from the edges, and the color of the eyebrows fades. Wind dissolves into wind, the external breath is rough and accumulates, the external breath stops. Wind (354) dissolves into consciousness, the internal blood and essence gather in the heart, the breath dissolves into the heart, the gross activities, the breath within the veins stops, and then one faints. All of this
