Given. Cutting through at the moment (Thag chig thog tu bcad pa) is: The Dharmakaya's (chos sku) intention beyond mind, abiding unmoving in a state of being free from three-fourths. That is, the previous memory ceases, the future memory has not yet arisen, and the present awareness is free from any modification or adulteration. The radiance of awareness is uninterrupted, like water clearing impurities. In this state, do not deliberately strive to gather it in, and do not let it become distracted or agitated. Simply leave the ordinary awareness as it is, awake, clear, vivid, and open. As the Secret Sound Tantra says: "Without prior or subsequent thoughts, Awake, clear, and open, This very present awareness Is recognized as the Dharmakaya with its basis. Like the pupil of the eye, Awake, held by mindfulness, Open, with awareness relaxed, Self-awareness is seized by unwavering confidence. Like the cloudless autumn sky, Clear and open, without edge or center. Because nothing is thought or abandoned, There is no sinking, dullness, or elaboration. Like the sun free from Rahu, Clear and open, without change. Blissful non-thought constantly abides, Therefore, it is self-arisen and unchanging. Like a spotless mirror reflecting a face, Open, without objects. This alone is the nature of reality, The basis without objects, the supreme realization. These four distinctions are also One: self-awareness, wisdom, and Dharmakaya. Because there is no ignorance or turbidity, It is like a clear jewel in clear water." Thus it is. Resting upon the confidence of liberation is: When resting in such a state of clarity and freedom from elaboration, like a clear ocean, the ordinary awareness scatters upon objects, manifesting as self-arising and self-liberating, like waves dissolving into water. At the moment of arising, relax in a state of non-distraction and non-adulteration, so that memories and thoughts vanish without a trace. The feeling that arises dissolves into the base, which is called self-liberation. That very tantra says: "What is called self-liberation of mind Is not going from one place to another. The mind that is not liberated by anything, Because it is complete from the base, has no coming or going. It cannot be found by investigation, there is no reason, Because there is no root, it abides in emptiness and clarity. That mind that abides in self-clarity, Because it is liberated by the key point, is free from partiality, Because it is liberated by time, it has no dependence, Because it is liberated without effort, there is no action or accomplishment. This is said to be liberation by confidence, Because it is liberated by meaning, there is no re-establishment, Because it is self-liberated, there is no antidote, Because it is liberated by direct seeing

Sar Ya. Because of complete liberation, there is no effort. As it is said, self-arisen, without distinction, abandoning grasping, without acceptance or rejection, without antidotes, one should settle down. Secondly, Tögal has four aspects: First, focusing on the key points of body, speech, and mind. Relying on the three key points, bringing it directly into one's own experience. The way the four visions arise through practice. The ultimate supporting instructions. The first is: The key point of the body, any of the three postures. The key point of speech, ceasing speech. The key point of mind, training to be free from thoughts and distractions. The second is: The key point of the door, any of the three ways of looking. (348) The key point of the object, focusing on the cloudless sky. The key point of wind-mind, exhaling slowly from the mouth, and the awareness not wandering from the center of the sky to anywhere else. The third, the way the four visions arise, has four aspects. First, the vision of the manifestation of reality is: By looking in that way, in the center of the sky, with five-colored bindus, appearing like a vajra chain, like a golden thread. That itself is the actual sound of awareness-wisdom, therefore it is reality. Manifestation is what is seen by the eye. The third is not relying on examples, not transmitted from one to another. Appearing spontaneously without relying on signs. The vision is from light and bindus, etc., up to the connection of three bindus. The second, the vision of increasing experience is: From that vision increasing and expanding, there are two aspects of experience: The experience of vision is radiating light, upward extension, half-net, brocade patterns, etc. The experience of knowledge is bliss, clarity, non-conceptuality, etc. Increasing is: The light (349) becomes more intense, and the wisdom-samadhi becomes clearer. The vision is: Bindus, light, etc., up to the point where awareness reaches its limit. The third, the vision of awareness reaching its limit is: Appearing as body and pure lands. That is, the awareness of the object-vision is inseparable from emptiness in any way. The awareness of superior seeing is the vajra chain. The awareness of the base-holding is the essence, nature, and compassion, the three inseparable. The awareness of the base-abiding is the basis for the arising of all knowledge. The awareness of characteristic-holding turns away from ignorance and abides in the basis of the arising of awareness. The awareness of Tögal, practice reaching its limit, and realization.
